I think an unannounced item has crept in which may be of interest to transition modellers; it's the BD containers in 'door-to-door' livery.  (Scenecraft 379-393). These are unweathered (unlike already announced Conflat with container 377-331) and come as a set of 4 with 2 in the crimson livery.

It's also interesting to see which items no longer appear--the Thompsons for example; can we anticipate these in maroon before long? (Sorry for frothing!)

Even more interesting is to look on the Bachmann Website as far as items no longer appearing goes.

As just one example, only 20 steam locos in total are listed and of those just 6 are actually in stock at Barwell (Castle x1, 8F LNER only, Jinty BR Late Crest and 3 x WDs). There are 3 locos (N Class) due April/May and the remaining 11 (4F x3, J39 x3, 5MT x3 and Fairburn x2) "Awaiting" which clearly means somewhat further off.

Not a criticism, merely an observation, the challenges around production and shipping must be pretty tough at the moment to see stocks shrink to this level.

Shipping has seen its fair share of problems recently. The global slow down in trade caused by COVID and resulting reduction in the amount of sea traffic has left thousands of empty containers stuck in ports around the world. This has resulted in shipping costs from China to Europe more than quadrupling as companies fight for limited space. Air freight has also seen capacity significantly reduce as airlines have drastically cut schedules and there are only so many dedicated freighter aircraft in the world, most of which are already flying at maximum utilisation.

It’s possible Kader have been unable to secure slots and have chosen to prioritise shipping new tooling over reliveries.

The only issue with that is that all the announced "New Tool" steam locos have now been released, unless one includes the partial re-tools for sound (N Class and 5MT) and diesels don't fare any better. Personally I don't think it matters which are chosen, such is the pent up demand I would think almost any new production in sensible livery choices will rapidly disappear from the warehouse at Barwell.

Given the new announcement style it’s possible there is another new tool steam loco in the works we’re not aware of yet. Even if not, the 8F appears to have been a success which will hopefully encourage them to produce more. (cough....S15....cough)

in terms of new/updated toolings the companion Collector Club magazine to the catalogue reports the WD 40T Parrot wagon as being in transit, the sound upgraded N approved for production, 319 and 47 (Crewe cut version) at livery approval stage while the artwork is being prepared for the 450. The sound upgraded 60 is at the EP stage and tooling is being prepared for the sound upgraded 5MT and 14 with the drawing office working on the new 158.
