There are four different number series in operation for the HYA/IIA fleet, as follows:

hope that helps!

Hi McC,

That's really helpful and a good insight into the different types, thank you very much!

Also good to see the reference to a possible future run, including the 6955's.

Many thanks,

Ixion.

If it helps people, I have created a spreadsheet of the converted HYA's (including ex coal HYAs to aggregate HYAs and coal IIAs to aggregate HYAs).

The spreadsheet has:

- 'Std' tab for 37xxx coded wagons, with a breakown of their liveries: Tarmac, Tarmac (white background logos), Cemex, Cemex GBRf, NACCO and unknown

- RIV for RIV coded wagons, with a breakdown of their liveries: Blank, Cemex Touax and VTG 'patched'.

regards

Darryl

Very helpful Darryl, thanks.

I can see now how the ones I've seen locally fit into the larger fleet.

I will have to keep my eyes open for other types... so there's all the more justification to buy some.

Though I have to admit, the models with multiple wording and branding do look the part, so I am really tempted, despite generally sticking to items I've seen.

Cheers,

Ixion.

Just seen 2 rakes pass my office today. It looked like everyone was tagged in some way.

Some with full height "artwork"

Must try and get out to photograph them ready for my wagons arriving

Not tagged, but this may be an easier one to represent in model form... (pic from flickr)

I have acquired over 40 dodgy (it was chucking it down and my camera had an odd setting that I only noticed afterwards) pics of 6M38 Hunslet-Arcow today. Managed to photograph all 25 on one side and over half of the other.

At least 2/3rds of the rake were graffitied.

Here's a few examples. (This isn't actually graffiti - this is a torn vinyl)

More will appear later when the models arrive.

I may need to stock up on a few tins of paint.

The depth of field (I'm assuming the dodgy setting was an aperture one?) gives for a bit of a tilt-shift effect that makes these look like models. And between Accurascale's models, and your modelling, is not very far for the imagination to stretch at all! (I'm still not entirely convinced that these aren't the pre-production models trundling round a layout!!!)

I can neither confirm or deny

Complete with pre-production full length HYA/IIAs on test.....

A sunny day in the Yorkshire Dales.

A 10 minute drive from my desk.

Another load of HYA graffiti pics in the bag.

Not just on the side.

Nice empty weathering

The peeling vinyl may be tricky to do.

Problem is, I now have far too many pics to choose from for my rake - unless I buy a few more wagons......

I'm sure a man of your skills will sort it Mick!

I reckon paint the patches in the outer colour, then work inwards a colour at a time might well work.

I saw a set on the Acton - Portbury working yesterday, and they were all VTG owned, big grey patches and very little graffiti over the top. Only a matter of time though!

I've had chance to process the RAW files off the camera now, here's the ones I managed to photo on 6B59 Acton - Portbury on Wednesday.

All appear to be ex biomass wagons, looking at the mounting point still present on the black end.

That's run two sorted, so.

Looks quite nice too!

Hi Fran. We could do with some of the basic VTG logo ones with the plain grey patch panels too please! (such as in the images in Steadfasts post above and my photos below).

These are very common on the Bardon Hill workings and no doubt some others.

All in good time ;)

They do!

It will be interesting to know if they will be mixed in with the others or kept on separate rakes.

@Accurascale Fran is there any intention of doing loads for these?

We will indeed be offering loads!

Cheers!

The peeling final effect. Might this be done using either the maskol or the salt method that has been used to make the rust and peeling paint effect in the past?

It would be "easier" to do the peeling effect with a repaint/redecal, but may prove tricky on a factory finished wagon.

I've got some 3D printed (currently N gauge) ones Mick - could look at scaling it up if you want spare bodies to mess about with, rather than practice on the 'real' thing!

It's fascinating to see how badly they're fairing. A lot of the Drax IIAs have gone the same way.

Vinyls on an aggregates wagon - whatever were they thinking?

Ta for the offer - PM sent - I have a couple of ideas to try.
