Cellar Layout - Common Pitfalls and what to look out for?

Hi all,

I'm currently house hunting and have come across a property that has a cellar/basement which is rather an exciting prospect for the sake of building a decent sized layout. What I'm hoping the collective knowledge of this forum will be able to help with is some experience from those who've built layouts in such spaces and common pitfalls (or things you wished you'd thought about before setting out!).

Obviously I'll be looking at things like temperature, how dry it is, lighting and power supplies but I'm sure there are things I haven't thought of to check.

Thanks for guidance in advance,

Joe

Main problem is damp. Also water ingress / drains backing up in flood conditions. In our old large terraced house of my youth the cellar flooded to a depth of 6" after prolonged heavy rains - backed up via the floor gulley / drain, The house was rented and we didn't stay long enough to worry about it.

Good luck with yours.
