I've ordered some LNER /BR E ground Disc signals.

Has anyone experience of building these , I'm hoping I can use glue rather than solder and make the disc rotate so the signal can be posed

While I have no direct experience of building these, can I remind you that LNER/BR(E) ground signals, unlike those of all the other companies, were upper quadrant so the red or yellow bar went to the NW-SE diagonal, so as to speak, when the signal was pulled off - quite a distinctive feature.

Not very easy to make work in my experience.  I did manage it on an earlier layout; I had the operating wire coming up from under the baseboard ending in a right angle which passed through one of the spectacle holes (unglazed!) and made the disc rotate, but I didn't get the weight arm to go up and down.  I'm working on one at the moment for the current layout and hoping to get the weight arm to work (as it's mainly viewed from the side) but it's looking like a major rebuild!

Hi Russ,

I've built a couple of LNER ground discs which have working weights and are lit.

Details on my Topic here:

Best of luck,

Steve.
