RMweb Gold Right Away Posted February 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 25, 2021 Got a spare ten minutes? Grab a quick Lockdown cuppa, fire up YouTube and watch “Kings Cross Station Camden Town 1950’s” video. Worth watching; there’s no soundtrack other than dubbed music, but that does not at all detract from the prevailing atmosphere. Go on. Put the kettle on.
Chris Turnbull
Very enjoyable. I was particularly struck by how smoky it all was. No wonder there were respiratory problems! DCB
Looks very sort of Hornby Dublo to me, all those conflats and box vans, N2s even the Gronk. Hard to model convincingly unless everything is painted in 125 different shades of grey, but great to watch during particularly boring Zoom meetings. Mounting a kettle or five under the baseboard with suitable vents might help re create the atmosphere for an exhibition layout as well as provide an endless succession of cups of tea.
woodenhead
Look at this, an art deco suburban detached house with garage right in the middle of Kings Cross - how did that get there?

woodenhead
Excellent @petethemole, best I'd got to was this, it mentions it was a show home for Barrat's but no more.

Nice view of the Great Northern Hotel. Now obscured by a modern edifice:
