I've looked and can't see anywhere still selling it, and there's none on e-bay. I'm not a KISS fan, but my 3 year old grandson is mad about them, specifically Catman. He went out dressed as Catman last Halloween. He also likes trains. If I'd known about this set, I'd have bought one to keep for him till he's older, though there's no guarantee either interest will be long-lasting. (Edit - just realised that these things come one piece at a time - very expensive in total - plus the prices of those that were sold on e-bay!! Maybe not!) Hroth
I'd buy a couple of pairs of "walking boot" grade socks for when we're allowed to go back to exhibitions.... Just think, if you went to the Hornby stand and demonstrated that you were wearing a pair of Hornby Socks, you might get entered in a prize draw for something that wasn't shifting quickly enough!!! Ruffnut Thorston
There has been Hornby licensed stuff out for years... I bought a notebook from The Works ages ago. The cover picture is from the Hornby Book of Trains (Catalogue) for 1927 - 1928.. There is a whole lot of stuff with The Hornby Railway Co., Margate Works branding, made under licence. Another notebook... And the original image.... A jigsaw... There was a really good Jigsaw as well, I saw them in Hobby Craft a while ago now, but I didn’t get one. Note the weathered box effect! Quote A big brand through the ages. The puzzle picture includes a number of fine examples, drawn from the Hornby archives. Starting from the left, the Tri-ang Local Passenger Set dates from 1971. The Advanced Passenger Train Pack was produced between 1980 and 1984. The Hornby Dublo ‘Royal Scot’ train (top right)set was first produced in 1958 and the long blue boxed Hornby-Dublo set dates back to 1938. Even older than this is the Hornby Clockwork Train, which was made in 1921. © Hornby, a registered trademark of Hornby Hobbies Ltd. The Hornby Book Of Trains, Centenary Edition used one as illustrations inside..building up through the years...clever. Looking at a review, I had a better look...the tender of the Plunger pick up Black Princess is on backwards! The curse of the backwards tender strikes again! There is also an Airfix version... And a Scalextric version... Nothing new...Tri-ang Hornby had Arrow Brand Jigsaws using Catalogue cover art... http://steamtrainjigsaw.blogspot.com/2013/04/three-from-arrow.html Edited March 3, 2021 by Ruffnut Thorston Tidying 3

Derekl
Reading the original story in Toy News, I note that he consultant is appointed to try and develop the Scalextric brand name. Other thna as owner of that brand, there is no reference to development of the Hornby badge. (Possibly because it is already being done, as reported above).

I also note that 'he' is a 'she' I see watches mentioned and I wonder if my former next door neighbour would take that up as an idea? He's currently offering a 'Jaguar' branded watch in his range although I somehow think that Scalextric wouldn't go down quite so well on a watch that sells for £7,995. But maybe he could put Scalextric on his lowest priced model as it comes in at a mere £2,595? And people moan about the price of model railways

Apart from replacing straps and batteries it is still very accurate and tells me the time - which is all I want! RMweb Premium Keith Addenbrooke Posted November 4, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) Apologies if these have been shown elsewhere, but I saw these for the first time in a local Garden Centre / Craft Store / Gift Shop this morning: Not a very good photo either, sorry (next time I should try standing still!). Another stand nearby had identically sized boxes of jigsaws with a different brand name (something like “Kiddicraft” ?) which I think is the firm with the licence for these, and the Garden Centre does not include a model shop amongst their franchise outlets. Can’t comment further as we didn’t buy one (I have plenty of other kits in my stash to do 😀), Keith. Perhaps Hornby are funding TT:120 by repurposing old catalogue cover photos? 1
Steamport Southport
Ohh..... 🤔 Not a rubbish amount of pieces either. You see half the jigsaws in the shops and they are something daft like 200 pieces that takes five minutes to do.... Jason

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted November 4, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) Its not a bad idea. Afterall they do 3D versions which you can guess the random parts in the box to reattach before use. 😀 Seriously though its not a bad idea, maybe they should consider christmas cards too ? RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2022 Well if jigsaws were good enough for the GWR's publicity dept ..... (mind you they are at least worth more now than they cost when they were new) 1

A mixed pack of Christmas cards would definitely be a good idea! Interestingly, unless they had been all snapped up. they hadn't done a "Flying Scotsman" one, perhaps NRM have that one sewen up already so Hornby couldn't do it? Of the ones on display, I'd prefer "Waiting by the water tower". 1

I'm half expecting the next one to have Flying Scotsman on the cover as it's the centenary. They also do Airfix ones. https://uk.airfix.com/shop/puzzles/jigsaw-puzzles?encoded=s89JzEsPSCzJsE3MLErLrNAtzVZLy8wpSS0qjs5NzEtJLMkvqoyHiMQnVcZGFxTlp5Qml8QXlybFJyeWpKYD5WNtHcGaFbwy04sTy4vVChLTU-MzU2wNDS0MDIzVivOLSoCabS3AEraGAA Jason

009 micro modeller
For another idea, how about some sort of timepiece, perhaps featuring a famous steam locomotive produced in model form by Hornby, and recently seen at King’s Cross? 😜 2

Mrs Stationmaster is a great garden centre browser but for mainly garden related things. I suspect that if she brought home a biscuit tin carrying a design like that on the lid she knows full well that I'd be more than likely to throw it at her. PS She did visit a herb garden centre yesterday with her friend and returned bringing several different sorts of cheese - which tempted me to break my normal rule on only consuming such delicacies at Christmas. I've yet to try the sheep's cheese but no doubt it will be very good - far better than goat's cheese (which is hardly difficult in my opinion).
