Il Grifone
This has just started in Italy, but is probably of limited interest for this reason. I missed the first issue which for 1.99€ gave one a C.I.W.L. restaurant car body and parts of the station. It's on back order from our local newsagent, but.... The second issue has the floor of the restaurant car and some bits of fancy iron plastic work for the station, plus two pieces of track. As usual, the sleepers look a bit undernourished even for H0 scale. The next issue is 12.99€, so I don't think I will carry on very far! It's supposedly a model of the Simplon tunnel between Italy and Switzerland so they are going to give you a Chapelon Pacific as the locomotive (built 1935 in SNCF livery so hardly twenties!) An Italian diesel is offered as an extra. IIRC the tunnel is electric traction only, but never mind! Edited March 6, 2021 by Il Grifone 1
rue_d_etropal
one to keep an eye out for once it is finished and remainders are being offered from China.
RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted March 19, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 19, 2021 First glance and this looks like the Altaya issue for 15 or so years ago suitably adjusted - no buildings in the Altaya set - but maybe the Italians will not get 2 French locos. . Il Grifone
Apparently the loco is an SNCF 231E (hardly appropriate for Italy). For a Euro extra per issue you get an Italian D.343 diesel made by Roco. This seems reasonable until you realise that there are 100 odd issues! More discussion here (in Italian). https://www.scalatt.it/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16516 Edited March 22, 2021 by Il Grifone
RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted March 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2021 The 231E was an Altaya offering as well so it does look as if the moulds have been passed on.
Steamport Southport
If it was 4mm versions of Wagon Lits Night Ferry sleepers and luggage vans then I would bite their hand off. I would think quite a few others would as well. They could always use a Class 71 as the offer loco. Jason
