BobM
Hi Guys Sadly 4953 'failed' today so wasn't operating on any services..... The pairing of 1501 and 9466, sounded and looked splendid indeed..... The local residents were busy in the early morning sunshine making the most of the pleasant weather while it lasts.....! A regular visitor to Arley has kindly donated two amazing Staddle Stones to the station for display as a feature in the gardens. Being over 100 years old, the original iron pins that secured the tops to the bases had corroded away and in the process of rusting had expanded and threatened splitting the sandstone. The SVR's stonemason Philip Chatfield has worked his magic and inserted new pins to safely secure the tops to the bases for the longer term benefit of these pieces of architecture. They do look rather splendid in their new home in the bed beneath the down Arley running board don't you think? BobM
Evening guys..... Been a beautiful sunny and pleasantly mild day here at Arley Station, and whilst I spent most of the time there, ensconced within the shrubbery, I did managed to get a few images of 9466 a very nice loco indeed...! Hi No not yet, we still have 'house guests' in the form of the HST's, although these have been shunted into siding No.1, with one grotto coach containing Halloween and Christmas displays for the station, now in No2. So the former are taking up the space where the tent is due to sit, their delayed departure has meant plans had to be altered. The power cars are due to depart I believe this week and the Christmas venue tent due to be erected soon after. BobM
Hi.... Well (thankfully) save for the tent to be removed, Christmas has 'been and gone' and although the SVR won't be operational passenger wise until April, there'll be much going on 'behind the scenes' here at Arley and we have our station back! Today planted out in the gardens, two further 'old apple' varieties, 'Annie Elizabeth'.....and managed to prune both the maturing apples and the standard wisteria, both of these tasks accomplished at the correct time of year for the first time for two years, previous pruning having to be delayed due to enforced lock downs! Here are the two Annie Elizabeth apples planted today.... Will keep you posted of anything that 'happens' in the meantime...... Stay safe folks.... BobM
Not strictly Arley but I do pass this field on my journey back and forth twice a week, each time it is a delight to travel through such lovely countryside, however at this time of year is spectacular! BobM
Evening..... As part of the work at Bridgnorth, there has been a fair bit of rearranging of stock, both loco's and rolling stock being stabled at various points along the line, hence our new 'house guest' likely to be with us until late summer? These are a lot more photogenic than the previous HST's wagons.....thought I'd share the view with you good guys. Stay safe folks..... BobM
Have spent much of the past two days weeding the gardens, so haven't seen much of the activity through the station, however the view courtesy of Malcolm from his Anderson Shelter, made me think it was probably close to Tea Time? BobM
Hi I am so sorry it has been an age since I posted images of life at Arley,,,this has been due to being 'shunted into the 'workshop' for emergency 'firebox repairs'' , by that I mean in June I had to go to hospital after a heart attack and a stent fitted, back both at work and thankfully Arley, so getting there...! Here are a few views of today's gala at Arley..... Regards always Bob
