Orange, brown & black water colour pencils now where are mine.

That will make the pick out of individual bricks much easier, great tip Ray H. I'll follow Georges work to see how it goes.

Went to Prof Google and found this.>>> https://www.world-of-railways.co.uk/techniques/model-railways-using-pencils-on-brickwork-top-tips/

Now l have started some work on 'Moss Lane' doing the mortar on the buildings with very watered down white acrylic, and it looks good when dry and takes no time at all to do...

having used polyfilla after painting my brickwork, I’m never going back to painting the mortar lines again. The polyfilla looks so much better as it fills the gaps too like proper mortar

Hi Andy, Well l have been mucking about with white filler for the mortar on the brick work, as suggested by lan 47606odin (who has posted a very helpful video) and l am very pleased with the results.

Split Personalities at 'Moss Lane' in the form of 37285 in Coal sector, and 37187 in distribution on the other side, sounds crazy but l havent got £700 plus for another O gauge sound 37, and as you only see the one side of the loco l thought. not my idea but l thought it would suit my needs, just have to adjust the weathering to the Coal sector loco...

I've got a few coaches painted differently on both sides but rather stupidly, has never occured to me to do the same with wagons, where I decided to run my blue diesels with 60s era stock to save duplication. I could easily have done both types of numbering, especially when most kits provide both.

Also its the finace as well, O gauge stock is very expensive, but l noticed that OO stock is getter dearer by the day, really something to think about...

Second hand prices are also eye watering on some cases. That well knownretailer in Widnes sometimes lists second had 7mm  stuff at  around the RRP or in some cases in excess of it based on rarity value. I think the problem is Heljan will make only enough to cover what it perceives to be the initial demand. When that's gone that's it and unless they do a rerun the price of second hand stuff keeps rising. The fact we are getting a third batch of class 50's suggests they got demand badly wrong on this one albeit the third batch has some welcome new liveries.  Modellers are coming to 7mm in increasing numbers and are finding that stock is not available when they want to expand. How long before we get a rerun of the 45 I wonder!!! Perhaps with a different nose end like the 40 or 31.

Yes. I keep reading Dapol have made it affordable with £200 locos (which are undoubtedly lovely models) but at the same time a simple wagon that was mid £20s from Parkside comes out at nudging £50 r-t-r and Parkside prices have rocketed on the back of that. Overall its definitely costing me a lot more than before it became so popular.

Then again a pint used to be 68p.

I suspect Parkside price increases have more to do with the sale to PECO than Dapol's pricing! Their manufacturing costs will also doubtless be more expensive and they will probably want a greater profit margin although I stand to be corrected. I am grateful I laid a stock in and have a number to b build that will see my wagon needs complete. Apart from specialist vehicles!

Totally for new stuff but 2nd hand prices have also ramped up which illustrates your point about the overall increases.

I suspect kit sales have fallen as well as some people are bound to buy r-t-r instead, so the kit producers have to charge a bit more to make up for the lost revenue.
