Norton961
I have a finished 4mm kit for one of the industrial Garretts ( Sneyd No 3) which is currently in primer. The question is what colour would be a good match. The only colour photo I have seen shows a deep red, but should I go for a Furness red or a Midland Railway red? It is not clear from any of the photos I have if there was any lining either. David
Norton961
In the absence of any feedback I went with the Furness Red, looks the right colour. However I have fallen foul of using a tin of paint that is some years old which has created 2 problems, one the paint is still tacky after 5 days (indoors in the warmth) and secondly it has lots of tiny bits in it. So will have to strip and repaint. David
PhilMortimer
I'm building this loco (actually 2 of them) in 7 mm - see the follwoing link After some debate, we came to the conclusion that the Sneyd loco was painted someting close to Midland Crimson Lake. However, later in its lfe, it seemed to be so filthy, it was difficult to determine the actual colour, as is shown in the picture and link below. Hope this helps.
