RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted March 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 15, 2021 What are they doing to them? I don't remember any problems when they ran on the GN main line. Jonathan

Jonathan It's almost eleven years since they landed here for use on the Brighton services to Seaford, Littlehampton and Portsmouth and the class is 45 years-old. Their bus seats are more comfortable than the 700s' and their windows open - letting in fresh air .............and noise.
Wickham Green too
Surely you're not crediting the 700 series units with ANY degree of comfort !!?! ( or 800 series for that matter )
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted March 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2021 Nathaniel sits on something much more comfortable than a Class 700 seat. Cheers Darius
Nearholmer
Do these fires occur around the shoe-gear? Anyway, I never did like 313s, awful plasticky things, not a patch on a 2-BIL.

Michael Hodgson
Seats on the 313s we had on the GN were so comfortable the late night revellers regularly used to chuck the cushions out of the windows.

Euston - Watford Junction and Finsbury Park - Hertford North in the course of my paid duties were quite far enough. Hitchin-Moorgate (via Hertford) was worse, a journey I often had to make. When a 313 came in (whether via the loop or via Welwyn) it was invariably faster to wait on the platform for the next train (a 312 originally) and change at Finsbury Park. Not to mention the possibility that even if you did go via Hertford the unit might fail the tripcock tester at Finsbury Park and therefore be diverted to Kings Cross anyway. Going the other way, I generally went via the widened lines to Kings Cross, because at least it was easier to work out what disruption the various services were suffering - and by boarding there rather than Finsbury Park, you stood a much better chance of finding a seat in the rush hour. roythebus1
I worked on them as 2nd man when they were new!! 1976 at KX. I remember helping some of the drivers understand them as I'd previously been a guard/emergency motorman on the Underground. But then during 1975 there was a fitter's strike on the WCML and they uses AM4s on fast Euston-Liverpool/Manchester services!
