Middlebrook Model Railway
In the beginning Since moving house 6 years ago I have finally decided to take the plunge and create a 00 gauge model model railway in the loft space. At my other house I had created Woodhouse Parkway which later become Boston Junction. This layout was dismantled just after track laying stage and what I could save was saved. My new layout will be called Middlebrook and will be set in the mid 1980s to the present day with modelers licence of course. I have decided to base the layout on the WCML preferably in North West England which will have overhead catenary fitted at a later stage, a station is planned with 2 long platforms with 4 platform faces to accommodate 9 car trains, 2 bay platforms and 2 through roads. A viaduct will be incorporated somewhere along with a diesel & electric maintenance facility. Overall I have available to me a space of 18ft x 11ft which will be 3x1 timber framed with 25% open famed topped off with a 9mm Birch ply base. I started to convert the loft at the end of January and had a specialist to install the sub frame floor which is suspended from the purlins, electric soon followed and hope to completer the plasterboards by the end of March.

Acoustic flooring was installed to blank out sound transfer to bedrooms below which I need to finish off then I can continue with the rest of the framework for the open plan baseboards.
