Anomalous Dining Car livery

I was watching again a remarkable bit of early film (here, from 33:45) that was discussed recently over in my wagon building topic:

(BTW I now think the leading brake third is D11)

... but this time round I was struck by the anomalous livery of the H2 Dining Carriage:

Any comments?

Gets a mention in Slinn's "GW Way", but no dates.

Photo in Russell Coaches Vol 1 (fig179) of No. 250 possibly ex-works. If so, then 1896 to probably first shopping - 1901-ish?

History nearly repeated itself in 1934 with one of the Buffet cars having a cream panel mid-way along.

IIRC, the Royal clerestories of the 1890s had cream waist panels, so the First Class diners are allowed a nod toward regal comfort!

Would one have been seconded for the royal train?
