TRAILRAGE
I've actually managed to get through some if the repainting, detailing, and transfer fitting projects that have ben on hold for far to long. Still have way to much to do though! Airfix Kit Modelled from a phot of B159653 in David Larkins Working Wagons Vol 2 with Grey Headstocks and top flap removed and thin sheet steel welded in place. The Number box should be of a broken type but this was all I had. Airfix Kit modelled on a photo of B551778 in BR Goods Wagons in Colour. Vacum braked and fitted and Dowty Hydraulic buffers. Bachman Model based on a photo of the real thing in David Larkins BR Standard Freight Wagons book. The Empty Transfer is incorrect but was all that I had. Fitted with Split Spoked wheels. Parkside kits based on a Photo online. Parkside pipe based on a phot in DEMU Compendium 1. Still needs Door bangers and some transfers (ran out). Fitted with Sprung MJT Buffers. Slag Ballast conversion on Cambrian Dogfish. Plastics gone brittle on this so is need of a few replacement parts which I t seems to have lost! Still need to fit Vacum Cylinder , pipe, end stanchions, Brake wheels and chute wheels. No idea where the buffers came from. they were rusty as sin but was all I had to use at the time. Lima Sealion Repainted Black. I had read ( I forget where ) that there were some painted black in the early days and although its based on a photo on Paul Bartlett's Site it doesn't specify whether its Olive or Black (although its probably more likely Olive) I like the look of it and just needs some light weathering now. Dapol Ex GWR Fruitmex based on a phot of the real wagon in David Larkins Pre Nationalisation Freight Wagons on British Rail book. Mainline Ex GWR Fruitvan body on a mix of Parkside, Ratio and Coopercraft underframe gubbings. Based on a photo of the real Wagon in David Larkin's Pre Nationalisation Freight Wagons on BR on Flickr of the real Wagon. Just need to add the Label in the R/H upper corner under the vents. Hornby Meatvan based on a Photo on Flickr of a similar Wagon. Bachmann Model with a Dusting of dirt Dapol Banana Van Body on Red Panda Underframe. Need to do some more of these. Ratio Banana Van . Need to get some more transfers!!! Bachmann Ex GWR Shocvan based on a phot of the real Wagon in David Larkin's Pre Nationalisation Freight Wagons on BR. Parkside Shocvan Kit based on an example on Paul Bartlett's site Bachmann Ex GWR !2t van copied from a Photo found online. Bachman Van copied from a photo of B768101 in BR Goods Wagons in Colour. Ran out of Vanfit Transfers for it though and tare needs adding. BR STD 12t Margarine Van based on a photo in Don Rowland's British Railways Wagons book. Although the Margarine branding would appear to be Black wording on a white panel, I used what I had. Fitted with MJT 1'81/2" Oleos. Parkside Kit based on a on a mix of photos from Paul Bartlett's sight Edited August 21, 2022 by TRAILRAGE 14
TRAILRAGE
Ok had this one a while so not a lockdown job. Body is scratchbuilt from plasticard with measurements taken from the old Appleby Engineering Kit (which I gave up on its Chassis and shoved a modified Hornby TTA jobbie underneath) and sits on a modified Hornby Chassis which Came from I think a Mcvitties van (this was a strange fictitious body on a TTA Chassis). The original Clasp brakes which may have been Parkside have all broken off at some point so will need Replacing with some White metal ones. I'm not sure if the body dimensions are correct as the Bachmann model is a fair amount narrower, and bodyside ribs in a slightly different position. But it was my first scratchbuild so has a lot of sentimental attachment. 5

TRAILRAGE
These Dapol JNA have had only basic jobs done so far. Graffiti tags, a few repainted panels, a bent handrail and two of them the first basic coat of weathering. There is also a Bachmann MOA which has been "vandalised" which is waiting on weathering. These were started last year during first lockdown but I'd struggled to keep the Mojo going and just stopped. Didnt start again untill this year. TRAILRAGE
Also did a short rake of Bachmann BYA's last year. I haven't added the strange square pads that are fitted to the bodyside as I feel that maybe etched metal piece would fit the grooves better than I could realistically get a piece of plasticard to fit. The Red oxide hoods were painted using Presicion Paints SR Venetian Red (defo need some more) asi felt it looked correct. At least to my eyes. TRAILRAGE
It has been dificult Mentally. This years been very bad. Find out if I still have a job in around 2 weeks. Do just trying to stay positive. Resurrecting older models instead of buying new will help for a while but when one of the things you do to reduce stress becomes unobtainable, it doesn't help. I had to find my Mojo by fixing up a couple of models for my little boy. Last year We saw 37025 and asked if he could have a model so I repainted an old Lima 37 that was a bit scruffy. Still need Namplates and need to fit those nose handrails! Cheers Trailrage
TRAILRAGE
O have a few projects lined up for my littleman HNRC 20 from a tired old Wrenn body which I willprobably get a Hornby Chassis and modify to fit, Colas 37254 (from an old Lima 37180), GBRF 50'S (from old Lima), Colas 56 body (spare Dapol), DB 60 (old Lima Model), DRS 66434 ( From a modified Atlas Body and Modified Hornby Chassis), first Blue 73141 (old Lima model) should keep him happy! 73208 was originally 73108 which had a grey roof. Railmatch paint was pretty close so used that. New numbers and flushglaze (the original glazing was damaged) and some new buffers. Definately one of their best models these. This one is a Hornby body picked up at DEMU about 20 years ago. No glazing, pipework, or Horns (luckily I had spares). TRAILRAGE
A couple of first Gen Bachmann 37's. I know these have some serious shape issues but I'm still happy to have them trundle round on my layout First up EW&S 37419 this is fitted with Shawplan znd Heljan ETH parts and Shawplan RFD 47 MW Receptacles. Heljan Snowploughs. Turned Brass Horns. Regional Railways 37429 same as above minus the ploughs. Exhaust panel and Fan grille have been lowered into the body and look better for it. Little bit of red paint on the Nameplate and some weathering around the grilles and a little oil streak from the exhaust. TRAILRAGE
Couple more. Bachmann 08762 repainted and renumbered as 08561 with EWS red panel and branding. Hornby 31174 with the factory weathering partially removed. No longer looks like someone has wiped a melted Chocolate bar down the side. TRAILRAGE
This ones a recent build. Genesis Kits KFA Warflat. Definitely not the easiest to build due to hardly any of it being flat! Pretty pleased with the result. Really need to find some Transfers for it though. Any ideas Rmwebbers? cypherman
Hi, My you have been busy. Really great job. I concur with the ethos of doing up older models rather than just buying new ones. It means there is part of you in those models. They are unique. 1 2
TRAILRAGE
Started yet another project for my littleman this being 3 Lima PTA. One already in ARC the other two were in the original orange and Grey. I made the mistake of copying a PXA on the first one until I realised my Mistake so will rectify this with some Horizontal end Ribs. I'm tempted to cut the bottom off the bodies and do a complete underframe rebuild but as he's only 7 I don't think he'll notice! I will most likely use Liquid Maskol over the Lima Details and opt for a complete repaint in Railmatch ARC Mustard so they are all the same. The other two will have the Branding painted out. I've modified the side ribs and cut the vertical ribs off ready for replacements but as I also have 7 Yeoman liveried ones as well I will need a LOT of those! The will use the original Lima Bogies for now except one which will be fitted with Hornby Y27 Seacow Bogies as I have a set spare. They will do until (lets Hoping ) Accurascale release there BSC Axle in Motion Bogies as spares! HINT HINT. Pics to follow Cheers Trailrage
TRAILRAGE
Couple of pics of the Lima PTA/JUA conversions. Although based on the 1971 Iron Ore Tippers used on the Immingham Circuit workings, if you can ignore the 15mm or so shorter difference in length a reasonable approximation can be made if your willing to put the effort in. Especially if you have stock of these and are working on a tight budget. all of these will need 2mm square end ribs adding and the top thickened out with 2x1.5mm plastic rod. Ideally the lower part of the body should be cut off keeping a triangular shape for the side of the headstock. Will have to do some carefull masking with Maskol on the ARC Branded one when I repaint it. Only smoothed off the end ribs and fitted Kadee no5's so far on this one. Need to do those side ribs though, This ones had the Side ribs modified. Paint is a really old Railmatch ARC Mustard must be well over 20 years old (Plastic Child proof or in this case Adult proof lid!) Original bogies painted Railmatch ARC Mid Grey. Unfortunately I didn't notice the photo I was copying was a PXA (straight sided body Parallel side's with no taper and no ends ribs) until after I had painted it! Nevermind I will still add the end ribs. Just prep work on this one. End ribs removed and body smoothed off, side Ribs modified. some Hornby Y27 (sold as spares called Seacow Bogies) have been fitted as they are Close enough for a 7 year old not to notice they aren't exactly correct. TRAILRAGE
While the paint was drying on the PTA/JUA Wagons I decided to give a couple of my my Dapol VTG Telescopic hooded Steel wagons a bit of a go over using the paint on wipe off method. Not to sure about the results . The first pic is if one that's also had the buffers replaced with the A1 Turned Brass body/ Etched Stainless Steel heads (really don't like these but as I had nothing else I thought I'd give it a go) but the model has its buffers in completely the wrong position being to far apart. Hopefully Dave Frank's at LMS will cast some luverly replacements. The Handbrake wheels are 51l as is the replacement rope lashing hooks. Paint is Humbrol brown wash. Second is just the basic model with the Humbrol smoke Wash. Third one is a Blue Tiphook bodied one that has been given a thin coat of Humbrol matt 109 blue to try and fade the paint a tad. Doesn't really show to much in the photo. Might give it a thinned down coat of light grey and do the wipe off method, Matt Varnish then give a thin darker coat of weathering. The last Photo is it sat next to an untouched model Edited June 5, 2021 by TRAILRAGE
TRAILRAGE
Comepletley forgot I picked up a couple if Lilliput Bogie open wagons to gonvert into Tiphook JRA'S. They could be a big job if I extend them to the correct length. Or maybe leave as is and make an approximation. Littleman probably won't notice. Got some Bachmann Y25 Bogies to go under these as well (not the Y33 sold as Y25. No idea why they do that.) Will still be quite a big job though as the doors have been removed and will need new panels fitted and vertical ribs modifying. Ah well god job Im already nuts as this would probably put me over the edge! Cheers all and happy modelling. TRAILRAGE
Fitted the end ribs on one of the ex ARC JUA using 2mm square plastic rod and given it a first coat of Railmatch ARC Mustard. still need to thicken out the top rib. 2mm square looks to thick for this so will opt for 1.5 x 2mm rod. Still wanna cut that lower bodyside off though. Edited June 5, 2021 by TRAILRAGE

TRAILRAGE
PTA'S on hold untill I can get some 1.5x2.0mm plastic strip to thicken out the top Ribs. Also managed to get 3xpairs of Appelby BSC Acle Motion Bigies from CCT to use. Today its Scrapwagons POA/SSA/HSA/SJA First ones are Cambrian Kits had 4 of these but two are in bits waiting repair after having an altercation with the floor! The other two desperately need new transfers. The rest are Bachmann Models. Last but not least is a Prototype SJA. This was converted from a Bachman MEA open. Theres also a few HSA's ex HEA or the scrap trains well. One of them was bought as a pair several years ago at an exhibition. The other two are std Bachman.
