Gordon A
On the same day as the Bristol docks pictures I ended up having a mooch around Sharpness docks. Disused track over the docks swing bridge. Lines from the Sharpness line crossing the road to join the docks railway. Gordon A 16
Turin 60
Please, please, please stop posting photo's of semi abandoned American lines, I've been there (in the modelling sense) and I really don't want to go back.....really! John Bruce. 1
kernowtim
Granite blocks that supported rails are still visible at the redruth yard of the former 3ft gauge Redruth and Chacewater line, on the nearby treseavean branch trackbed a short length of rail has been relaid on the original granite blocks

The line was used to bring china clay down to the harbour. Unfortunately the harbour was very prone to silting up. The original Pentewan Railway ceased operating in 1918, though a later railway here used beach sand for making concrete blocks. A single rail visible beside Pentewan harbour photographed by shadowman is part of the original railway. 9/10/2018. Lines leading to the old loco shed. On the left it can be seen that the harbour entrance channel is completely silted up. 9/10/2018 cheers Pentewan. Lovely place.
woodenhead
Abandoned but not that old, Trafford Park, this track was part of a new curve built to get vans to Cerestar after a kickback was lifted on what is now Wharfside Way. It went right through the middle of a roundabout built in the 90s to replace the original V junction here that has also now gone, replaced by the new larger roundabout with a road and tramlines through the centre. 12

Gordon A I used to do deliveries to Sharpness Docks in the '90s (pallets of marine paint to visiting ships, which was interesting) and found the old tracks fascinating. I think I have a trackplan for the docks somewhere.

Good subject for a model as well - I’m thinking a wooden core with plasticard and plaster on the outside to get the textures right.

First visit I thought CC was the industry quite a few giveaway clues left about in the village but the bay view on the Mevagissy road is exceptional early mornings. Bike trail up the disused Pentewan valley line and all the Birds of Prey in the forest. Happy times.

RMweb Premium Reorte Posted May 10, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2021 Another topic made me take a look at one of the short mineral branches off the northern stretches of the Settle-Carlisle. I hadn't realised anything of these had survived but there are some rails still in the road, stretching a (very short) way in to a field - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.8517768,-2.8403835,3a,75y,296.2h,61.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDKC4oUdi4dP6D9GozQ89HA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?ucbcb=1
Popular Post pH
A couple more pictures of abandoned rails in Hawaii. (I have posted them before in other topics on here. But they seem relevant to this topic, so please excuse the re-posting.) This was the main line of the 3 foot gauge Oahu Railway and Land Company, shut down at the end of 1947. This part of the line was used after that by the US Navy until 1970: Narrow gauge track on wharf at Napo'opo'o Park, Big Island of Hawaii. I couldn’t find any information about a railway here. I was told there used to be more rails further inland, but couldn’t find any: 19 1

Ah, funny you should post that, that's actually my video (so thank you for sharing). Related, I'm researching the old PLA lines in the area, both for a follow-up video and a micro-layout. Google Maps shows that there's quite a bit on London City Airport's land, although of course it's not easy to visit without getting some very tough questions from security. There is a length of track visible through the airport's rear entrance and from Sir Steve Redgrave Bridge, you can see a siding in what is now a builders' yard. There used to be quite a bit around South Quay, but redevelopers are quite merciless and have little regard for picturesque dereliction.
