RMweb Gold Popular Post Accurascale Fran Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 1, 2021 NEW ANNOUNCEMENT - Haulmark, our BR generic coach range! Time for an all new announcement! We pride ourselves on prototypical accuracy here at Accurascale. However, we know when to listen to the market, and the market has shown that there is a healthy desire for a 'one size fits all' approach to coaching stock. We have seen this approach with recent releases for pre-grouping steam era equivalents and as a company with high ambitions we have decided to respond to this demand. But why just limit it to pre-grouping? Why not offer modern image interpretations? So, we have taken up the baton for the British Rail era modeller, and present to you; "Skidmark" "Haulmark", a generic 8 wheel BR era coach range featuring all the elements of BR Mark I, II, III and IV coaches! We have worked tirelessly to combine the different ingredients of the British Rail coaching stock back catalogue to give you the perfect greatest hits compilation for your layout. With the iconic Mark 1 taking centre stage on the body sides, featuring ventilated windows an flush-ish glazing, it is bookended with the most distinctive elements of the Mark II; domed coach ends. Mark III fans have not been left out, with the roof and under carriage equipment of these stalwarts included in the model, making them perfect for your HST formations as well as locomotive hauled passenger services. Finally, to top it all off, Mark IV bogies have been utilised, featuring a wealth of detail to remind us of the pinnacle of British Rail era coach design. Understanding the need to serve the most cost conscious of the modelling community, "Haulmark" means you need only ever purchase one rake of coaches for all operations. The addition of finely captured spoked wheels makes them appropriate for steam era right through to privitisation. Our new coaches will look at home equally behind the heroes of the express steam era across all regions, to HST rakes and behind a plethora of diesel and electric locomotives. However, we don't stop the saving there! "Haulmark" also features a further cost saving stroke of genius which is a first in the market and is set to revolutionise the hobby, with two livery options on one coach! Each coach will come with a different livery on either side of the coach, giving you even greater flexibility for your fleet. We're so excited to bring yet another "first" to the market which will leave the competition floundering in our wake. As you can see from our decorated sample above, it features the classic BR Blue/Grey livery on one side, and the colourful Network Southeast on the other. It's the perfect vehicle for 1980s London and South East based layouts. Of course, a full smorgasbord of liveries will be introduced in time, including BR Maroon/blood and custard, Intercity/Regional Railways, GNER/Virgin Trains and more! With such a land"mark" (geddit??) product landing on the market, we decided to get some expert feedback on our new model. RMWeb's own Andy York was privileged enough to get an exclusive first look at this top secret and highly classified project. Will it stand up to scrutiny? You can watch below to find out! Prices have yet to be set, but will be highly competitive! As well as the 'Composite Restaurant And Pantry' coach tooling above, there will also be also be limited amounts of other tooling covering all coach types combined in one vehicle. Delivery is slated for later this year. As Andy suggests in his errrr... honest appraisal of our first decorated samples, we are now looking for your feedback. Where should we take our "Haulmark" project to next? Let us know below! Cheers! Fran 6 4 9
RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Fantastic.. will you be making them in pre-grouping liveries ? I wouldn't mind one in Megabus livery too, indeed several bus company colours would be nice for different geographies. What scares me, is there is a pretty good serious effort gone into them Edited April 1, 2021 by adb968008 1
Roddy Angus
I would like to be the first to complain that it is not generic enough! Roddy

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2021 Why has no one ever made a toilet coach ? A good generic bathroom coach, with a suite of loos I always thought to be a useful addition. Imagine for use on outgoing suburban city trains on a friday night, for tightly squeezed commuter trains in a morning. The vehicle could generate extra revenue by charging customers an excess fee for occupancy time, and seats could be reserved. Toilet coach... i think it will catch on. 4

black and decker boy
A 23m mark 1, whats not to like. I'll invest big in these with a rake of at least 1/2 a coach (no use for blue grey i'm afraid so you can keep that side) and maybe another so long as you produce a LoadHaul version with a driving cab end from a class 122 and a pantograph for that truly, go anywhere generic appeal. 1

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted April 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) Watching that video, you cant tell me you had a straight face making it, its brilliant. Whats scaring me is the volume of old coaches out there, this actually could spring out a Mkflurry of twisted modern coaches. That way modellers on a budget could save by buying half coaches. you could join different halfs together to make your own custom coaches/rakes Think about it... no need for a CK... just buy a half SK and a half FK ? need a BCK.. just buy the half brake and put it with a half FK. use magnets to join it together. you could sell a modellers bundle of half coaches, inc several half SO, SK,FK, Kitchen and BG.. I could build endless rakes. Edited April 1, 2021 by adb968008

Of course the spoked wheels are designed to allow air flow under the vehicle which will blow carpet fluff away from the train, enhancing performance when pulled by a terrier up gordons hill. 1 1
