That peculiar little box van was, I presume, also native to the line?

Yes. Rather splendidly, there wasn't a brake van for years.  This little luggage van was, W&UT No.9, I believe, was unique.

In 1903, it was replaced by No.16, another one-off, an old GE brake third converted to a full brake.  This is seen in most of the pictures.

No.9 was said to have been transferred to the Stoke Ferry branch.

And I believe, both are available as 3D prints. In fact, I've already done the brake vehicle, and have plans to scratchbuild the luggage van.

Stewart

My No.9 is a 3D print.  I'm very happy with it.

Two other producers do No.16 as a 3D print, but one is significantly inaccurate and both, in my view, give a really poor quality of finish/detail capture. I have tried both, BTW, so this is based on physical inspections. I sent one back to Shapeways, it was so dreadful, and got a refund.  The other? Well, it was slightly better, so I might use it as an overgrown shed somewhere near the back of the layout!

I decided that the best way forward was to use David Eveleigh's new etched kit.

Do all of these pictures show the trains worked by the earlier Y6 4 wheeled tram locos rather than the 6 wheelers that Model Rail has produced ?

Yes, indeed, I was wondering who would be the first to spot this!

The C53s were more associated with goods traffic.

So, I'm afraid, Rapido, I'm going to have to ask you to make the G15 0-4-0 as well!

However, no complicated outside motion on this one, so you could probably fit this in between 1950s 'buses!

I'm perplexed by what appears to be a building on the corner of the St Pancras terrace.

It was there for years, until rebuilt.

Which years? It's not there in Midland days, or this century, and I'm struggling to find photos taken in the intervening period. Did it straddle the entrance steps or was it to one side of them, and what was its function?

Pretty sure it was there when I came to London in 1974 and taken down when the station was rebuilt by 2007. I recollect that it was to the side of the steps. Not sure of its function.

It's good job w you were around with your camera, to secure such an excellent set of photographs.  Presumably you had to remove your headgear when putting your head under the black cloth in order to check focus and deal with the photographic plate or did Mr Lock offerca special version for photographers back in those days?  :D :jester::dance_mini:

Very definitely there in the 1960s when i was a regular visitor to the two stations in that vicinity for the purposes of travel and collecting numbers of various rail traction items.   I too think it was to the side of the steps but the entire vista as you go up the steps is now much more open that it used to be - the steps used to be shadowed a lot of the time from what I can remember.

Definitely present in this 1950s view

You can now pre-order them from Rails.

You could pre order them at RoS the day they were announced but there are no prices so still the same situation as before, I am still waiting to order them direct from Rapido I think.

I add my voice to those already made for a prototypical bogie carriage.   My preference would be one in LNER Brown and in its final BR numbered condition.   However, I would not object if it came out in BR Crimson, just to have one in the BR era is important to me!!!  Fortunately, in building "Welney Depot" I have the track with a concrete paved side so I have the passenger setting down point ready to accept 'mixed trams'.

Did they ever make it to BR Crimson?
