8/10T Road van livery.

Recommended Posts

G'day all, I'm after some advice on the post S&DJR livery for the 8/10T Road vans?  Would anybody have any images of these van in LMS days, showing where the LMS was placed on the sides of the van.  As these doors are of the cupboard type, would the lettering be placed on them?

Ah, I thought this was going to be the answer to a question I'd raised somewhere else, but it's the same question re-put. It might help to mention that these Derby / S.J. Claye-built S&DJR Road Vans of 1896 / 1899 have identical bodies (barring some differences in the ends) to the Midland's own D382 tariff vans of 1898 and D365 banana vans of 1905/6, so any information on the lettering of those in LMS days would be relevant.
