Hornby J36 TTS install problem

This weekend, I installed Hornby's J36 TTS sound decoder into one of their J36 models - and despite thinking it should be fairly straight forward, it was an absolute b***er to fit! I'd only put TTS Sound into a few Diesels, and theres always been plenty of space.

But the real problem is the performance after installation. The loco performed well on DC before hand, the track was cleaned before hand, and yet I get this "stuttering" of the loco, with of course, the effect that the sound restarts.

Sometimes it needs the barest of touches - in fact in one case I'm sure it restarted before I touched it! I've tried it with just the tender, just the loco, and got the same  issue.

Any ideas? Is it something I did in the install?

You probably just need to adjust a CV or 2.  I think it's something like setting CV 150 to 0.  You will need to check the instruction to be certain ( or wait for someone else to confirm CV )

Yes, according to the manual, that is the Motor Control Algorithm. But I'd assume (dangerous, I know!) that it would already set to 0, as thats the default value?

I usually set CV201 to 0, this is the Loco start delay so it helps to cut down the problem where the Loco temporarily stops and then cycles through the sequence for a few seconds before restarting.

Thanks Richard, I will try that!
