Seuthe Smoke Generator Noises

Hello all,

 

I've recently fitted one of my old locos with a hard wired DCC Train-o-matic Lokommander 2 chip and have a Seuthe 22 smoke gen & 2 x leds lights installed.

 

Smoke generation is a bit poor, as it generally just floats over the top of the chimney rather than travelling upwards like my older seuthe smoke gen used to do. It also makes a dreadful screeching sound when switched on and pops quite a bit. Is this normal?
