I agree the BAR is pretty, so much so that I bought one. Trouble is mine is likely to be a different number. Apart from the number is it the same as the HO ones? I’m sure I could make a temporary change to the number.

BAR 5226 seems that be a popular number judging by a quick look at past eBay auctions, and may have been covered by more than one manufacturer. So, are there any out there...?

Yup - I phoned my Dad to check: he has two, both #5226 (one will get renumbered in due course).

This is a UK forum for UK people.

They are not cars, they are wagons, cars run on the road.

So it's gone from Yakima Valley, Washington to Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington again in less than a day....

I think this is it passing through RS Tower with about thirty of it's similarly numbered friends. Taken some time ago as it is alot cleaner.

I can't find any photos of it on my first layout as for a while it had a hole in one end and a small wireless video camera fitted, so never received a modified chassis needed for the 12" radius curves. It now has an Aztec Industries sound generator that makes vague reefer noises but isn't a patch on the later Athearn reefer sounds.

Apparently, the Bangor and Aroostock had a seasonal arrangement with Pacific Fruit Express to supply extra reefers to each other as the potato and fruit harvests came at different times.  If I’ve got this right, is it possible that BAR #5226 and PFE #460135 could also have met?

In the long forgotten past, I came across a 6 pack of these UPFE  refers.

6 road numbers of the same car was fantastic, RTR no less.

Needless to say, they came home with me. Was my pride and joy rolling stock until

superseded by Genesis and Intermountain products in the same paint schemes.

Would have been the early 1980's. Nearly 40 years ago. Oh my.........

Graham.

There is at least one State of Maine boxcar preserved....

I can confess to owning an N Gauge version on my layout!

Nice

I once brought the 2909(A-M) 12 pack of PFE orange reefers and recall a similar number for UPFE yellow, searching eBay for similar 29xx codes gives other 12 packs that might have been introduced because of the popularity of previous single cars.

The last time I looked the numerous renumberings of yellow reefers in my block train were mostly done (by someone else) by changing one digit in 460135, I'll have to have a look to see if any look factory original and from the set you mention.
