Brilliant effort with the front white loop of lining that would have scare me witless!  Great finish with all the changes in shape and the ribs.

Thanks Robert.  I masked the outside of the loop and then painted the inside green part freehand with an 000 brush.  Still need to add the curve to the bottom of the loop - will do that when the green paint has cured.

Cheers

I forgot to mask the white “loop” at the cab end so I added it using white decal sheet.  I will paint in the inner green patch once the decal has set overnight and been varnished.

Cheers

I’m flattered that you have asked but I don’t I’m afraid.

I have done a couple of times in the past and it wasn’t a fun process so I decided not to do them any more.  I build models for fun, to challenge myself and to escape from the world for a few hours.

I like the story told in Colm Flanagan’s “Diesel Dawn” about the “No Entry” and “Entrance Only” signs on the doors being ignored by passengers as the signs couldn’t be seen when the doors had slid open.

There was about 20 different versions so you’re spoiled for choice.  33lima has posted drawings under ‘UTA railcar drawings’ in RM Web

Hi Kieran,

I know, I have read 33 Lima’s posts and seen the drawings.  Could keep us busy for years...

Cheers

Next tasks are to fit out and paint the coach and cab interiors, fit the glazing, add the seating and finally the step lights.

And the motor coach exhausts.

Cheers

Having a first browse through “Parting Shot - the railway photographs of Norman Johnston”.  What a wonderful book albeit with a sad but touching preface.

Great modelling very much in the spirit of ingenuity of the UTA engineers re-using parts from existing coaches to build the AECs and groundbreaking MED diesel trains.

I am looking forward to seeing  your MPD railcars.

As if this couldn't get any better, you've even replicated the slightly more "yellowish" shade of green in the first class seating section. SHEER genius.

I can almost smell the damp, and the stale mixture of cigarettes, diesel fumes and BO which was always prevalent in these things! Fascinating as a model, but at least as ghastly to travel in as the truly awful 450 "Castle" Class railcars! ;-)

Keep up the excellent work!
