RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted May 9, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 9, 2021 Brilliant effort with the front white loop of lining that would have scare me witless! Great finish with all the changes in shape and the ribs.

Great finish with all the changes in shape and the ribs. Thanks Robert. I masked the outside of the loop and then painted the inside green part freehand with an 000 brush. Still need to add the curve to the bottom of the loop - will do that when the green paint has cured. Cheers Darius
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted May 9, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 9, 2021 Second driving motor coach painted. I forgot to mask the white “loop” at the cab end so I added it using white decal sheet. I will paint in the inner green patch once the decal has set overnight and been varnished. RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted May 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10, 2021 A great model. That brought back many memories of the MEDs. They were ahead of their time when built. 1

Lambeg Man
Your attention to detail is stunning. From the circle around the car number, to the "entrance only" on the doors. Superb effort. Like Kirley I can't wait to see your next project.

RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted May 13, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 13, 2021 I like the story told in Colm Flanagan’s “Diesel Dawn” about the “No Entry” and “Entrance Only” signs on the doors being ignored by passengers as the signs couldn’t be seen when the doors had slid open. RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted May 14, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 14, 2021 (edited) Steps and decals applied to all three coaches. Next tasks are to fit out and paint the coach and cab interiors, fit the glazing, add the seating and finally the step lights. And the motor coach exhausts. John M
Great modelling very much in the spirit of ingenuity of the UTA engineers re-using parts from existing coaches to build the AECs and groundbreaking MED diesel trains. I am looking forward to seeing your MPD railcars. 1
jhb171achil
As if this couldn't get any better, you've even replicated the slightly more "yellowish" shade of green in the first class seating section. SHEER genius. I can almost smell the damp, and the stale mixture of cigarettes, diesel fumes and BO which was always prevalent in these things! Fascinating as a model, but at least as ghastly to travel in as the truly awful 450 "Castle" Class railcars! ;-) Keep up the excellent work!
