Moderators AY Mod Posted May 4, 2021 Moderators Share Posted May 4, 2021 BACHMANN EUROPE ANNOUNCE NEW PRODUCTS FOR SUMMER 2021 Bachmann Europe Plc today launched the second instalment of its British Railway Announcements for 2021, detailing new items which are scheduled to arrive in the next three months from its Bachmann Branchline, Bachmann Narrow Gauge and Scenecraft ranges – covering N, OO9 and OO scales. Following hot on the heels of the all-new Class 20/0 unveiled as part of the Spring 2021 British Railway Announcements, this summer sees the introduction of a second all-new, first-generation diesel locomotive – the Class 24. New tooling has been developed to produce OO scale models of the Class 24/0 and Class 24/1 disc headcode locomotives as part of the Bachmann Branchline range and four versions will be offered initially. The new tooling incorporates a higher level of detail than ever before, with many separately fitted details such as the roof panels, which create the distinct undercut seen on the prototype, etched cab ventilator grilles, highly detailed bogies and numerous era-specific parts. SOUND FITTED versions of each will be available, with standard versions also featuring a pre-fitted speaker along with the 21 Pin DCC decoder socket. Alongside the new Class 24s, the LMS Compound appears in the much-requested LMS Crimson Lake livery, whilst SOUND FITTED versions of the new LNER V2s are also announced. Following the launch of the highly acclaimed Bachmann Branchline Class 20/3s, a further example is introduced in Harry Needle Railroad Company as No. 20314, providing the perfect partner to No. 20311, which arrived during Spring 2021. The extensive range of Bachmann Branchline OO scale rolling stock also expands with the addition of BR Mk2F coaches in the popular InterCity Swallow livery. These state-of-the-art models are also available with lights – including interior, door interlock and tail lamp lights – all of which are controlled via the built-in DCC decoder. There are new rolling stock options for OO9 scale too, with a steel-bodied bogie coach which appears in two attractive liveries; Maroon & Cream or Lined Green. Further structures join the Scenecraft range with N scale offerings including the 1930s Semi Detached Houses plus a Fire Station and Police Station, both in Low Relief. The Semi Detached Houses also appear in OO scale, in Low Relief format, whilst a new Railway Stables set comprises three buildings inspired by those found at Bricklayers Arms station. Details of every new item for Summer 2021 can be found in the British Railway Announcements Catalogue, produced as part of the Bachmann Times and available exclusively to members of the Bachmann Collectors Club. LaGrange
Excellent - plenty of money saved here. Although I am now waiting for the response later today of another company that produces 24's in 1/76.2 scale............ 1 4
daltonparva
Hallelujah for the red Compound at last. Price made me cough though. Will have to make do with 1, not the 3 I wanted. Edit. Just noticed this is only for class 24's. If Mr Mod can magic this away, please feel free. Edited May 5, 2021 by daltonparva 2

RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 I am somewhat surprised to see another go at the Class 24/0. There are plenty of other diesels in Bachmann's tooling suite that are older and would benefit from an upgrade - Classes 42, early 47 and 55 in particular. The current 24/0, while not up to SLW standards, is perfectly acceptable, especially at its lower price point. Yes there are new 47s and 55s coming from Heljan and Accurascale, but Bachmann rightly doesn't seem averse to competing with new models from other manufacturers. 3
RMweb Premium it's-er Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 (edited) Well, I'm blowed! I immediately recognised that OO Hamilton Toy Museum as the toy museum in Callander in the Trossachs, NW of Stirling. It didn't seem a likely candidate for re-creation on modellers' railways across the land, but here it is! Wonderful - a lovely way to recognise a family run museum and business. https://thehamiltontoycollection.co.uk/ John Storey Edited May 5, 2021 by it's-er Correct error

RMweb Gold Markwj Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2021 Surprised to see another 24 but I guess natural progression from the 24/1. Nice to see the hnrc class 20 to partner the first release did expect another drs version (maybe even 20301 as the collectors club model) but ever mind. MK2f in swallow livery at last! I wonder if any products are on the evergreen!
60800
To have been a fly on the wall in the marketing meetings for the 24.... Oh dear. No new 90's so to echo the sentiments above, wallet safe for a while. Watch the autumn new tool announcement be a Deltic *facepalm*
wainwright1
Nothing to whet the appetite and wallet breathes again. No mention of any EFE Rail releases. Will it be another quarter without anything ? All the best Ray
atom3624
Lots of information - thank you. I notice the V2 cab pony truck has non-flanged wheels aka Hornby, instead of the previous floating flanged wheel set-up of Bachmann. Al.
Clagsniffer
Was excited about the swallow liveried Mk2’s but the excitement quickly turned to gutted when I saw the price. Best part of £100 each for one coach, I just simply can’t afford to buy a rake. By the time I save up for them they will be released and no doubt sold out straight away. And £32 for a single TTA??? Ah well. 3 8

RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2021 Very pleased with the 24/0. Just bought the 24/1 which is excellent but has made the misshaped roof of my Bachmann original 24 and 25 all the more obvious. I don't think this does compete with the SLW version - some overlap but largely the SLW is aimed at a different market. I'll happily support my local model shop and buy a Bachmann 24/0 from them. 1
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 I am overwhelmed with how underwealmed I am about the N scale announcements. Yes, I'm sure that's the engine shed TMC commissioned a few years ago. The giveaway is the cut out in the corner of the separate office, where it fits into the main shed building.
RMweb Premium njee20 Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 Does seem a little surprising that there's not a single N gauge item of stock, not even a re-livery. 1
wombatofludham
A red Compound. Am I hallucinating? Intercity Mk2fs. Nice. Class 24 unexpected but also of interest, and I doubt SLW are too worried as they have plenty of new stuff on finals. Interesting announcements. Now Barwell, where's that Class 310 seeing as you've finally got round to the Crimson Rambler? 4

They will probably sell many times more than the "rival" model which you can't even buy as they are never in stock..... I was after a 24081. Never seen one. Where are they all? Oh they made a limited run of about 10 which were all sold to "friends". Yes, I'm slightly exaggerating, but with the other manufacturer it's like you need to know the secret knock in order to get things. So as good as it may be, I'll now buy a Bachmann version in BR Blue as at least you can buy them! Jason 2
