RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted October 1, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 1, 2021 Hi Great piece of modelling, I am sure the population of Embo will be pleased . Of interest is the colour change apparent in the lighting conditions from bench to layout.
David Bell
Thanks Robert, The difference in colour is quite apparent as you say. The layout is not in its final position. It is under a fluorescent light where it is but will move elsewhere when finished.
David Bell
I have started the remaining windows, making them from plastic strip. They are all the same size so I am making them all in one piece to be cut into four individual window units later. That will ensure all the horizontals line up correctly. Cheers David

David Bell
Thanks Peter, I am pleased with the way it is turning out. A few more details to complete, then I will have to make the train to go on it! Cheers David

A 16xx pannier (no 1649), a Stanier brake corridor composite and an ex LMS van. It is amazing to think two ex South Wales panniers ended their days north of Inverness.
Marly51
Lovely model making David! There is something very satisfying about creating models of the old stations! Marlyn 1

You are right,I think making Far North Line structures can be quite addictive. (And I do have another spare door!) Cheers David

David Bell
With the diorama all but complete my thoughts have turned to the train to put on it. I decided to attempt a kit first before scratchbuilding the train. I chose something easy! À NBR diagram77 3 plank wagon. The kit is by Williams Models. The body is made of plywood and the first thing I did was cut the base to the wrong size! So my base is plastic.

David Bell
The wagon has wheels now so looks more like a piece of rolling stock and less like a tea tray!
David Bell
Starting to apply the detail parts now. I am really enjoying the process. Cheers David
David Bell
I have given the wagon a ballast load. It is set hard with dilute PVA and is permanent. I like to do this at this stage before completing the brake gear and before painting so I can clean up any glue seepage
