Strange green interloper appeared this evening (too old for me!):

And something else appeared out on test (again not mine, too new!)

A test piece done for ballasting, see how this looks in the morning:

And today's interlopers:

A shame I missed the Dogfish in engineers livery.

Dont Heljan know we are crying out for some more new modern wagons?

Looking good Al, do like the 37 in EWS livery.

Regards

Julian.

It does look good doesn't it. Having to resist anything EWS as its far too new for me!

The Dutch Dogfish had all gone by the time I got into O gauge, managed to get an Olive one and some Dutch Catfish then picked up a couple of Dutch Dogfish 2nd hand. Heljan are aware there is a demand for Modern Wagons but they got burned with what they have done previously as everything stuck around for far too long. Remember Hattons were flogging off EWS VAA's for £30 at one point just to get rid of them. I know there has been consideration to re-run the Dogfish but if it happens I'll be surprised if they come out under £100 each after discount this time.

I read on Tower Models website recently that Heljan have no plans to re-release the Dogfish as the price they would have to sell it at to make a profit is higher than the market would bear.

It might be worth trying a wanted post in the wanted section on here, coincidentally I put a post on Friday after saying that I was after a Dogfish (a black one rather than Dutch) and had an offer of one within a few hours.

Managed to get a section done yesterday morning before we went and and I am relatively happy with. The different ballast I use around the hut isn't great so my need re-doing.

With nothing else much on today it was too ice to be inside so I cracked on! One cure half done (second track to go in) and the other end just abut done bar the very inside which will get done once the wiring has been done.

Finally a posed shot in the Sun, I think layouts look so much better once the ballast is down.

What have you used to stick the ballast down with?

Jim

SBR - Its a waterproof latex bonding agent normally used for cement. Its set solid so will see how it fairs when it next rains!!

Slow progress the last week or so but we're now really getting there. One ark is now fully wired and so has been shuttered off to start filling with soil, 7/8 track lengths to cut and lay then the back straight and second arc to wire.

Wel, all I can say is brilliant, and we must be due some train running videos

Ta Ian. I am sure you have seen some of the video's on the MIOG FB group. I keep debating setting up a youtube account so I can post them here but I still can't decide if its worth it or not!

Back to work this week and motivation has done one again. So an hours chill and testing in the Garden. Just about given up with the Cargo Wagons, I think they're too light, too long and too much play between the bogies and the chassis. They will need some works attention to see if I can get them running better. MOD train (or at least part of it) has been on on test in various forms and ran absolutely fine around all bar one very short section of track. Not enough play between the loco and first wagon going through the point work.  slight tweak to the alignment may be required. The MK1 set however ran for a good 40/50 mins with no trouble around the tighter inner loop.

I don’t see much evidence of shrub planting going on…. Maybe the gardener is on holiday  :D

That end of the railway isn't fully wired, two boxes to wire up (hopefully tomorrow) then we can shutter that end off and fill it!

Looking very nice and when the weather is like this it makes all your hard efforts worth it ….:locomotive:

Most definitely. So nice just to sit out there with things trundling past, glad our neighbours are all pretty deaf! There are certainly some nice vista's starting to appear, so of which will go as the garden develops but some will just get better!

Jim, the electrician did  few bits yesterday, which allowed the landscaper to shutter some more off, for the gardener to fill and plant this morning. There has subsequently been a trip to the garden centre to procure some more plants which will be planted once there is a bit more shade!!

As much as it has closed a couple of photographing options off a little it has made some more interesting shots available.
