Good morning,

Had an email from Menzells Lokschuppen yesterday with the 4 new Re6/6's. Can't see a release date but assume they are iminent as they are sending out correspondence relating to them. Doers anyone have any further updates on these? I've been after a Cargo liveried version for ages and can't wait for these to land!

The versions on offer will be red liveried 620-029 Interlaken, green liveried 11662 Reuchenette-Pery, SBB Cargo liveried 620-051 Dornach-Arlesheim and Xrail SBB Cargo liveried 620-088 Linthal.

Also, does anyone know of where I could get transfers from for Swiss locos, would be nice to get a couple of the Cargo liveried versions and renumber/rename one of them.

Cheers,

Jeremy

The homepage also makes clear that he's very happy to do one-off bespoke orders too, which could help here?

(I do like the fact that, as somebody who specialises in decals, his name is "Andreas Nothaft"!)

That is absolutely correct. He did some bespoke RhB stuff for me a few years ago.

Switzerland is notorious for not having many artisan producers. I have tried over many years to find additional bits and bobs for Swiss N without success. 'superdetailing' parts seems to be a thing that is quite well established in model railways in the UK, France and Germany but not Switzerland. It seems that Swiss small scale modellers are generally happy with 'off the shelf'.

I wonder if there are any of the earlier issues of Hobbytrain Cargo Re6/6 knocking about? refs 10165 and 10166.

I managed to pick up a s/h one at a UK show a few years ago but it was the version with the wrong number / name combination (so that one needs modification anyway! - and is one example of not being able to find the artisanal products to carry out the modification.

So I think the answer is no apart from the separate discussion about Modellbahn decals de

About decals, a quick search at Modellbahn-Decals brought up 11642 Monthey and 11647 Bex, however with original numbers rather than as Re 620.

Unfortunately those ModellBahn Decals Re6/6 transfers are not much use for Re620. Only the shield would be usable. The name and numbers are no good for the Cargo livery. To create a town shield it is cheaper and easier to print one off a computer on thin paper and glue stick it on to the model!

From looking at the preview I‘d say that the town names use the base colour of the model and would need to be retained (?). Monthey certainly has the largest time frame, being the earliest Re 6/6 to gain blue/red Cargo livery.

Edit:

You‘ve brought up an interesting point: Upon repainting the names have of course been printed and, in the case of longer names, take up more space than the cast letters. However 620 047 seems to have been outshopped as „Bex“, whereas later pictures show the name capitalised as per the cast lettering before. There is no shortage of variation here…

Hi,

Re620's are on their way! Lemke have just posted some nice pics to their Facebook page and photos of the models are also own their website. A bit disappointed that the front handles are mouldings and not separate parts like on their newly released re420's. The new pantographs look really good though and the overall appearance is also very good.

Ho hum...

Two of the new release of Kato Re6/6 now on DM toys.

Regular readers will know that as an old stager, the RRP of the latest stuff makes me gulp...DMT price of Euro170 seems high as pictures suggest not a great deal had changed in the actual body detail.

So now the obvious questions:

apart from the obvious (up to date numbering, aircon representation, front grab handle) what are the improvements over the latter day issues  of the original Hobbytrain version?

Given I already have 5 of the older versions I daren't spend money on one of these as the also due KISS/MUTZ EMUs will cost a bomb as well.

I'm even less likely to spend any money on the re-released RIC coaches - at an even more 'gulp' price - euro 152 for three coaches that are not a brand new model.
