1165Valour
I've heard of the Fowler 2-6-4 tanks being used to bank trains up Shap, but does anyone know of the Standard 4 tanks being used on banking duties? On the one hand, I doubt their performance would have been too different compared with the Fowler, Stanier, and Fairburn tanks they were descended from, but I'm ready to be surprised of course. bike2steam
I've only seen them banking up both Parkstone, and Bincombe banks.
pH
Beattock had 7 or 8 at different times from about 1961 onwards. There wasn’t much else Beattock engines were used for other than banking. Here’s one in action: https://railphotoprints.uk/p789585088/h3A158D76
RMweb Gold RFS Posted May 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2021 You can see all the allocations here on BR Database. This shows 9 allocations to either 68D or 66F when the code was changed.
