Alex H
I am just starting a new HO layout and have a number of carriages/wagons (mostly Piko) with Shaft NEM 362 with KK kinematics couplings. Not only do I find these very fiddly, but also they tend to leave a large gap between carriages/wagons. I was thinking of using the Fleischmann Profi couplers which seem to be more realistic. I was wondering if any members has used them or had any thoughts on how well they perform. Many thanks Alex
RMweb Gold Phatbob Posted May 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2021 Excellent if you want close coupled fixed rakes. Quite the best close coupling on the market. Far more robust than the ROCO type. We use them to close couple units on Star Lane. They work really well with close-coupling mechanisms, but are NOT a shunter's coupling. I use Kadees for that.
RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted May 23, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 23, 2021 Like Phatbob, I use them in my fixed rakes only, where they do give a good close coupling with virtually no 'give', so a rake of coaches moves nicely as one. For shuntable stock and at the outer ends of the fixed rakes, I use the NEM Kadees, #17 and #18.
Swissrail
Now that Fleischmann have given up on producing models in HO, does that mean the profi coupling will be discontinued?
