Sound fitting DVT and Loco pairings

Hi All,

Has anyone fitted an 00 gauge DVT/ class 67 or class 68 with diesel sound and lights chips to run trains such as the Wrexham and Shropshire or Chiltern Rail trains?

For instance I am contemplating a class 67 with TTS sound chip running on the same code number as a non sound chip in a DVT.

What are the potential problems?

Many thanks

Paul

I've done quite a few, some with sound in the DVT and some with just DCC, you shouldnt have any problems running them together on the same address, you'll need to program them both on the track at the same time

Richard, what sound have you fitted in the DVT?

I would have thought the sounds from a DVT were pretty limited, but I have little experience of them at the lineside, so maybe I am wrong?

Many thanks

Legomanbiffo has done a sound project for DVTs.

Horns sound from the correct end & there are other sounds too, like aircon, brake systems.

It also plays the same coach sounds as the loco (Mk3 coach wail etc). This reduces the effect of the train sounds disappearing with the loco.

DVT sounds include but are not limited to;

Hydraulic parking brake on/off

Ticking spirax valve

Horns

Buckeye coupling

Brake application and release

Driver’s door slam

Driver’s air conditioning

Sliding side door open/close

Guard to driver right away signal

Despatch whistle

Mk3 airbag suspension sounds

Flange squeal

’Running’ sounds

Detonators

Cab light switch on/off

The latest versions of my Mk3 DVT is set up as a ‘matched pair’ to run with my 67, 68, 86, 87 and 90.

My Mk4 DVT is similarly set up to run with my 91.
