TOPS NUMBERED CLASS 26's/27's WITH TABLET CATCHER RECESS

Afternoon everyone

 

Just looking for a little help with finding pictures/info of any TOPS numbered Class 26's and 27's with tablet catcher recesses still in place , so far from Flickr I have managed to find 26025/027 and 26046 but no 27's yet , livery is unimportant

So you're looking for 27001-23, and 26021-46. The recess seemed to last until about 1976, so there should be a few examples to chose from, though photos from 1973/4 to 1976 are fairly sparse.

 

A few more to search for 26030, and 27018, which were among the last to have the recess.

There's a photo in Looking Back at Class 26 and 27 Locomotives (Kevin Derrick, Strathwood 2013) of 27001 at Queen St in August 74 with TOPS number, tablet catcher recess, and in green livery too !

27012 had it’s recess until at least 1977 and the body side numbers were closer to the cab like a class 33.
