Giles
The next layout, 'The Sparrow' will primarily be radio controlled. This is the primary loco fleet: They are all fitted with Deltang Rx41-22 and 3.7v k20 gearmotors, giving very nice speed control. The Tx 22 of course has inertia as well. These are 7mm 014. Peckett (green) radio controlled 500mAh battery. Should be good for at least six hours Peckett (black) radio controlled 500mAh battery Quarry Hunslet radio controlled 700mAh battery full day operation Bagnall radio controlled 650mAh - full day operation Manning Wardle 'Jubilee 1897' 1000mAh battery - 2-days? The layout will also be wired for DCC so various other locos may take their turns - but the ease, smoothness and reliability of the RC is a joy...... 'handing over' locos, less so...

StephenF
Very nice engines too. I was wondering whether to use the Radiomaster for trains, or the Tx22. Handy to have separate transmitters in any case... Edited June 14, 2021 by StephenF
Giles
I'd go for the Tx22 for locos, as the knob stays where you put it, and you get the sort of control you expect, which I don't fancy with joysticks..... You'll find enough uses for the Radiomaster!

Giles
The coaches (or ex-trailer cars) are now completed. I shall weather the roofs when I'm doing a pile of stuff sometime. The coach to the left has two ladies, doubtless complaining about the new Vicar, who foolishly got his wife to do the Sunday flowers, thus offending the Ladies of the Flower Rota. The coach nearest the engine has two Gents, rather more concerned with the forthcoming rugby match. Not a busy train.
Giles
This is an 0-14 scratch-built model (one of a pair) of one of the diesels that Bagnalls built for the Ashanti Gold Mines in Africa in the early 1930s. Powered by a pair of modified 8mm gearmotors (reconfigured from 40rpm to about 140rpm) and driving via Mod. 0.3 bevel gears. A Deltang Rx41-22 is in control, programmed to output 60Hz. Powered by a 1200mAh battery in the engines bay. 1

Giles
Thank you Dave! This Tattoo started out as a pure 3D drawing exercise that got completely out of hand.... And the Gars Works is now fully finished... and with couplings
otherplanet
I love these low squat style of locos. They look so purposeful and technically efficient to squeeze everything needed into the minimum height. Nice work Giles.
