miles73128
Found this randomly on the Hornby website. Not clickable though. 2X Cl47, MK2 and 4X MK3?
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 6, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 6, 2021 Looks like it’s just the web exclusive Class 47’s and mk2/mk3 coaches sold as one pack. Nothing new.
Wickham Green too
I think the date's somewhat suspect ............... the word 'staycation' probably didn't enter the English language until six years after 2014 - at a guess !

Nope. It was in common usage in 2008 when the government at the time and the banks broke the economy and people had no money to go on holiday. It's not a new thing. The Black Hat
Thing is that by the time this is released, if it is, its a year behind what actually happens. I do admire Hornby for looking for a good set to put out that can grab the attention of modellers and then try to get sales. But it does make you wonder why they have not asked for the HST information that is going to be launched and then run the service, if they have already approached LSL for information on the loco hauled rake that was put out as a short term measure before the HST was purchased. fiftyfour fiftyfour
The Staycation HST is on the prediction list for 2022, as is the EMR combo of 43102 (IC Swallow) and 43274 (revolting purple) and absolutely nothing of any relevance to anyone modelling pre 2020. A "Deerstalker Express" with a 67 and Scotrail Mk3's would probably inspire more modellers...

They have done a few iterations of CS Mk3’s too.. also quite easy to find. they are doing the final variant of CS Mk3’s in this years range. I think a 43102 / 43274 set would be very popular, but a savvy Hornby would do 43102 in a different box set to 43274, to get the extra sales.. especially if the other power cars were EMR red... the worst part is the coaches, do we really need yet more LNER red mk3’s... though they would have EMR on the side. What would be very nice is more EMT White/blue stripes.. they are silly money currently... perhaps as EMR branding, as it did happen. Slightly bending the topic, but I wonder if Hornby will do the EMT / EMR "Angel Sets" next - The buffered power car is currently in production, it is a version they haven't done before and it ticks the boxes of the EMT livery (even if it's not the full fat original version from 2007). Once these LSL / RCS Mk3s are produced, I wonder if they'll modify the next batch to GA or GA unbranded as well?

Tbh I think they would be better dropping the staycation express and doing GA branded instead. Staycation mk3’s was a one summer wonder, 1 line, a few months and gone... those mk3’s are in Intercity livery now, and 2021 Staycation express looks to be a HST, which isn’t as appealing as last years festive fleet was. GA was around for quite a while. Edited June 9, 2021 by adb968008
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 5, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) Hmmm - a TTS fitted loco and a "normal" decoder fitted loco. That's going to end well.... Unless Hornby have a way of synching the two different decoders at start up/move off. https://uk.Hornby.com/products/staycation-express-train-pack-web-exclusive-bundleh1 Edited January 5, 2022 by newbryford
