My copy of this came at the weekend. It really is excellent. I'm finding the chapters on the pre group companies particularly fascinating at the moment, explaining a lot aboot locomotives that I was previously only vaguely familar with from old photographs. The book is well illustrated witha msattering of colourised images from pre-group and Southern days. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of colourising normally but I feel it really enhances this book. The colour image of an IWR Beyer peacok in the end papers is stunning.

 

A very useful addition to my collection of IOW railway books.
