Anyone know what the speed restriction is through Preston, and is that the slowest bit of the route?

The line speed through Preston is 35mile/h ... Carlisle station area is slower at 20mile/h ... the approach to Glasgow Central is also slow, dropping from 30mile/h around the curve at Eglinton Street Tunnel to a 15mile/h crawl into the station.

Here she is passing Boars Head (Rylands Sidings SB in the old days).

You can just about see the Royal Scot nameplate. Passed at a fair old clip. Vegetation made an approach shot impossible, and these were taken through the fence. A couple of other photographers were also there.

Oh for the old days here.

1S51 running 3 late ahead of it; will they hold that at Carlisle? https://www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/G82342/2021-06-17

1S51 is usually booked to stop for 2 minutes at Carlisle.  Today it's running to a one day VAR schedule and is booked to stop at Carlisle for 15 minutes 13.12-13.27.

I guess a banker won't be used up Shap as it would invalidate the record. :D

:D

3 minutes booked from Tebay to Shap Summit - flying start or not - who would have foreseen that happening, back in steam days?

Heard on the footplate today - "I'm sure there used to be a hill round here..."

Seems to be stubbornly on time at the moment.

Part of me doesn't want the APT to lose its record but they are there to be broken.

It doesn't look like it will get broken today at the moment.

Bit of jeopardy for the film crews, watch it snatch a minute soon

Hmm, seems to have found a minute down the back of the seat.
