Ajax
Does anyone know how to identify a Zimo Sound Decoder type? For example - reading CV 7 on an ESU chip will reveal whether it’s a V3.5 (CV7 = 59) or V4 (CV7 = 255) . The Zimo chip I have has CV7 reading 37 but cannot find anywhere if this refers to a particular model/version of decoder or not. TIA

pauliebanger
You can find the exact type of any ZIMO decoder by reading CV250. Then compare the value you find with the list in the ZIMO decoder manual. http://www.zimo.at/web2010/documents/MX-small-decoders_EN.pdf Most commonly used in 00 will be MX645 which has ID value CV250 = 221 and MX644D which have ID value CV250 = 222, though that's only a couple from the many of types available. Incidentally, that software indentified at CV7 as 37 is pretty old, dating from around 2017 (CV65 would confirm the sub version). The current version is V40.5 and there are quite a few useful uppgrades included in the several versions since yours. Best regards, Paul 1
Ajax
Many thanks Paul. CV250 reads 221 so that is a MX645
