1andrew1
Egypt will release the container ship that blocked the Suez Canal in March, after it agreed a compensation deal with the vessel's owners and insurers. The two sides said the Ever Given would be allowed on Wednesday to leave the Great Bitter Lake, the canal's midway point, where it has been impounded. The deal's terms were not revealed, but Egypt had demanded $550m (£397m) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-57719551 1 1

rembrow
The vessel initially sailed to Port Said where it anchored for safety checks on it's hull. It weighed anchor yesterday and is now en route to Rotterdam, expected to arrive around 25th July, and will then call at Felixstowe and other European ports. RMweb Premium reddragon Posted July 21, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 21, 2021 Ever Given is passing Ibiza now. Apparently it failed its seaworthiness inspection and has been limited to 10 knots. It will sail to Rotterdam and be fully unloaded. The consequences of this are: - 1 - At that speed it will not make Rotterdam on 25th July at 18:00 as predicted. It has c 2000 miles to do at 10 mph, that's 200 hours or 9 days, so July 30-31. 2 - Instead of the ship unloading them coming to the UK, it will be unloaded, stored and then reloaded onto another ship to queue to enter the UK. So, will they arrive in August at all?

RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted July 21, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 21, 2021 Has this just changed ? Several sites reported it was dropping Hamburg, Hamburg’s loads will be left in Rotterdam for Ever Utile to collect, then heading to Felixstowe. for instance this one, among others.. https://maritime.direct/en/2021/07/17/port-itinerary-released-for-ever-given-following-its-departure/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=port-itinerary-released-for-ever-given-following-its-departure

RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted July 28, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 28, 2021 I hope the delay was to allow an enterprising RMWebber to slip a tracking device into the container otherwise, presumably, we will have to rely on speculation from docking onwards? 1
