Just received this from Olivias and on taking it out of the packaging noticed that the fuel tanks are not attached and loose, is this usual as they say in the instructions different fuel tanks for different names.

 

If it is normal how do they attach as I don't want to make a hash of it.

Don’t think they are deliberately loose, but it’s not uncommon for them to become detached.

There are 4 retaining clips, 2 at each end, to hold them in place.

Just line up the clips with the holes in the chassis, making sure you don’t catch any of the fuel tanks ‘pipework’ on the bogies, and a squeeze should see the clips slide home.

If they persist with coming loose, a dab of PVA in the chassis holes before reattaching the tanks, then leave the loco upside down overnight, should do the trick.

They may only fit one way, but just in case......the (bigger) fuel tank faces towards the radiator grille end. 

I've used strips of double-sided tape on a couple of my Heljan models with loose underframe details.
