Some cracking pics there! I’m curious to see what the 4CEP Society does with its unit: pre- or post-refurb windows, and which livery. You don’t see many with post-refurb windows in Jaffa Cake. Just sayin’ ;) You must be really pleased with this layout, nice one!

Work continues slowly on the little layout, here are a few photos that I've taken which kind of show what I wanted to achieve. Still lots to do but its getting there. The only problem now is the cold weather which keeps putting me off going out into the garage when I get home from work.

Thanks Andrew D for your comments, and sorry for the delay in replying. I expect the 4CEP will stay as it is for some time, but I do like the idea of the jaffa cake livery!

A mate who works for FL was saying the other day they were on an engineering job and the access point turned out to be a swamp. One of the others fell over in it and they ended up stripping him to his boxers to drive the van home. All his kit was wrecked and so was my mates pair of boots! You can imagine the state of the van inside and out once they got it out again  ;)

Good evening,

With Christmas out of the way and the weather too bad to take the kids out for a walk, I've managed to spend a small amount of time on the layout. Nothing new to show, but important work such as fixing the buildings in place and a few other bits.

I've also built another baseboard for a new shelf type project,  I have a couple of ideas on how to fill it, but those that know me will know that it could change at any minute!

Hopefully the next update will be a bit more interesting, although there's only so much I can do  to a depot layout!

Thanks for checking in..

Scott

let there be light!

My first update for 2022, as usual not a great deal to offer.

I've managed to sort the roof out for the shed that hides the fiddle yard, I want it removable, and that bits still work in progress, but at least there's a roof.

Lighting was another thing I wanted to do in this layout, not something I've really done before. I've fitted and wired the external shed lights. I still need to do internal ones and also a few yard lights need to be added.

That will be done once they arrive from China!

Thanks for popping by.

Evening,

Not too much to report, 50049 has arrived with a pair of NSE BSK Mk1's. Local gen says they'll soon be into the shed for an overhaul.

In other news, a shipment from China has arrived which means new lights could be appearing at the works soon.

Also the Fleet manager is looking to put a few wagons up for sale soon to fund new projects.

Cheers

Scott

Evening,

Since the last time I was here I've scrapped the layout and built a small diorama of yet another depot.

Its still work in progress but happy with the results so far.

That's looking absolutely fantastic - the night-time shots look especially realistic! Is the "wet ground" effect intentional? Either way I love it!

Thanks,  o the wet ground effect wasn't planned but somebody else (not a modeller) thought it looked wet too. Wish I knew how I did it!

A couple of TTA's have arrived for a check over, before 50049 takes them down to Coleborne Heritage railway tomorrow morning, ready for a diesel gala.

Good morning,

Just a quick update, I've started to add clutter to the depot and I've also put in some armco type barriers too.

So many different options now for detailing, makes it fun trying to remember where I've seen all the various bits online!
