Fraternal Socialist greetings, comrades!

A very early-stages WIP is Lack micro #5, Hasselhöf Nord - a grubby industrial site in the Glorious Socialist Workers Paradise that was the DDR.

Set circa 1985, its essentially a shunting plank/diorama, where the Köf II or BR102.1 'Gartenlaube' can shuffle assorted Deutsche Reichsbahn wagen around.

Fiddlesticks can be plugged into the 2 roads on the left and 3 on the right end. It's also possible to run the right end as a 5-3-3 inglenook. The fascia window will quite tightly control the viewing angles

Structures are an assortment of Kibri, Auhagen and Piko, track is Peco Code 75 and will end up embedded in cobbles to allow the obligatory Trabbi and IFA W50 to bounce their way around the site.

Osten ist am besten, comrades!

Güten Tag comrade!

I like this idea very much. The glimpse given through the fascia reminds me of glimpses of the railroads one might catch between buildings when driving through an industrial area. Sehr cool!

*blows the dust off*

Hasselhöf Nord has been rather dormant whilst I've been busy with stock for Nové Město and Dounreay (not to mention the day job), but is about to be re-kindled as my autumn/winter build.

Browsing through Voie Libre #113* on the way into work yesterday, there was a rather neat micro plan done as a folding tramway layout.

I wondered if the plan might work for Hasselhöf Nord, so I mocked it up this morning on one of my spare Ikea Lack 110cm shelves.

I think it will work quite nicely, so will temporarily lay it out properly and test with some stock. Certainly appears to  give more 'play value' than the previous iterations.

Entry is the top right (into the 3-way), with 5 loading spots to shunt wagonry around, capacity being around 8 . Motive power would be Köf II, V36/Br103, V60 (Ost), with the left-hand headshunt just long enough to take the longest of those.

The various structures will be reworked (again) slightly to better fit the new plan.

*Voie Libre is a French-language quarterly magazine that focusses on light railways, tramways, narrow gauge and the like. An English-language version is available and it can be had in hard copy or digital. Well worth a look.
