Hull Paragon 1954

Good afternoon all. A daughter of a very elderly relative has contacted me to ask if I know anything about a loco at Hull Paragon, going through the Buffers and ending up in a Barbers Shop circa 1954! He thinks he may have cleaned the loco before that date. I know it sounds weird but I can find nothing on the web that matches this date at all. I know about the 1927 Crash.

Pullmans were mentioned too. Could it possibly have been some sort of minor incident with the Hull Pullman?

Many thanks.

P

Sounds like the inspiration for the Thomas story when Duck ends up in a barber shop so it wouldn't surprise me if there was a loco ending up in a barber shop somewhere so could well have been at Hull.

Duck first appeared in 1956 so definitely feasible. Not sure when the actual story was written.

Have a look about half-way down this page

You should see "The Barbers Shop in Paragon Station in 2002". With a DMU behind it.

So a loco hitting the buffers and maybe breaching the 'Barbers' was a possibility? Thanks matey.
