BACHMANN EUROPE UNVEIL NEW PRODUCTS FOR AUTUMN 2021

Bachmann Europe Plc today launched its Autumn British Railway Announcements with a selection of new items, which are scheduled to arrive in the next three months, for its Bachmann Branchline, Graham Farish, Scenecraft, ModelMaker and EFE Rail ranges – covering N and OO scales.

Following yesterday’s surprise announcement of an all-new OO scale model of the iconic Class 47 diesel locomotive, identities of the first five Class 47s were revealed. The Class 47 completes the trio of brand new OO scale diesel locomotives, after the Class 20s and 24s that were unveiled in the Spring and Summer British Railway Announcements respectively, with examples of both the 20 and 24 now available to purchase. All-new tooling has been produced for the Bachmann Branchline Class 47, the specification and intricacies of which were
explained in the video ‘A Brand New Brush’ which was released yesterday. The first five models to be produced cover locomotives from the first years in traffic through to Sectorisation and each model is offered in standard or SOUND FITTED formats.

For the connoisseur, the new Bachmann Branchline Class 47 is available in a new SOUND FITTED DELUXE format which includes a new motorised fan system – the first of its type ever seen on a British-outline, OO scale model. As with all Bachmann SOUND FITTED models, the new Deluxe versions can be operated on both DCC and Analogue control, and in both instances users will enjoy realistic sounds and fan rotation. In addition, SOUND FITTED DELUXE models feature tinted windscreen glazing replicating that seen on the prototype. All models feature a new Dual Fitted speaker system, with ESU Loksound V5DCC Sound Decoders fitted to SOUND FITTED and SOUND FITTED DELUXE models.

In addition to the new Class 47s, SOUND FITTED versions of the Bachmann Branchline Class J72s join the range.

For N scale, the Graham Farish range sees the introduction of three new LMS 50FT Inspection Saloons, including one in the popular InterCity Swallow livery, plus new wagons to bolster the rolling stock fleet.

There are new additions to the EFE Rail range as well, with the OO scale LSWR Adams 02 appearing in three colourful guises. The popular PBA Tiger Wagon also returns in OO scale,
with two further pristine models and two weathered examples announced.

The Scenecraft range of highly detailed, hand decorated buildings, structures and accessories sees new additions in both N and OO scale. Included in the selection are several much requested models which return to the range such as the N scale Carriage Shed and OO scale Modern Servicing Depot, plus a new Low Relief model of Goathland Hotel – famous for its
starring role as the Aidensfield Arms in the period drama Heartbeat.

Details of every new item for Autumn 2021 can be found in the British Railway Announcements Catalogue, produced as part of the Bachmann Times and available exclusively
to members of the Bachmann Collectors Club.

The Bachmann Collectors Club also took the opportunity to unveil several new Limited Edition models, plus two new membership benefits. Club members can now benefit from a
two year warranty on models from the Bachmann Branchline, Graham Farish by Bachmann, Bachmann Narrow Gauge and Bachmann Europe-produced Thomas and FriendsTM ranges.
Furthermore, a new Bachmann Collectors Club Sales Event which will be held at the Great Central Railway on 26th September 2021 was announced.

DRS Mk2F COACHES NEXT FROM BACHMANN COLLECTORS CLUB

The Bachmann Collectors Club today unveiled its latest Limited Edition models to coincide with Bachmann Europe’s Autumn 2021 British Railway Announcements. Based on the exceptional Bachmann Branchline OO scale BR Mk2F Coaches, a trio of models has been commissioned in the popular DRS Compass livery.

Featuring two Tourist Second Open vehicles and a Brake Second Open, each model will be available in standard format, where the highly detailed Branchline model is brought to life by
the striking DRS livery, or with DCC ON BOARD, with these models incorporating saloon, door interlock and tail lights all controlled via the built in DCC Decoder. The models being

Why do a big reveal yesterday on a 47 and then thoroughly disappoint today, when simply announcing the 47 today would have satisfied many.

But people will give out no matter what. The bar has been raised in RTR Diesel and Electric locos, Bachmann have reacted accordingly and people are still moaning.

 

The way some people go on, its like saying development of the motorcar should have stopped when the Ford Model T came out and we should have stuck with them...... 

 

Cant win, even if they were half the price, or double.

With the usual 15% discount allowed by Bachmann, I would imagine these new 47s will start at about £205.00.

Not too bad if that is the case for an all new model in this day and age.

Cars are a good analogy. I really like the Landrover Discovery Sport, just my personal preference, I'm not forcing anyone else to like it. Or argue about how green it isn't. But I know I can't afford it, so I move on and stick with my 18 year old freelander, which is perfectly adequate for my needs really.

I can't see a whole lot here that's very exciting, or even slightly exciting, for n gauge modellers in fairness.  I guess they've maybe had some unexpected delays.

I think part of the problem is when a retailer is told by Bachmann;

 

"I can also assure you that if you get asked and I am sure you will, Graham Farish has not been forgotten just wait until the Autumn launch, rest assured we have some very exciting models en route."

 

That raises the expectations of the retailer and therefore N-Gauge modellers once that comment is in the public domain.

 

Some may have read the comment as "oooh brand new models". It could also be read as existing models already announced will be closer to being in the shops. (Which I think this is the case).

 

Personally I'm not too bothered, as much of my budget is going Revolution and Dapol's way in the near future, however perhaps Bachmann could manage us N gaugers expectations a little better, so as to not get people's hopes up?

If Bachmann says it has 'listened' when talking about OO models, then perhaps N gauge modellers have keep on repeating the same 'old' comments until it does listen.  While you are perfectly entitled to be fed up with John Upton's comments, it goes both ways - and no its not about deleting threads without notice or explanation.

The focus on announcements has been the worst trend in the hobby over the past 10 years. It creates a false peak of excitement that inevitably upsets those who feel personally wronged or excluded from other people’s pleasure when another gauge/era gets a catalogue of future new toys that’s bigger than theirs. 
 

Announcements are just that. They don’t run on our tracks and so have no meaningful value as far as I am concerned. As far as the Farish range goes, yes there have been few announcements recently, but there has been a steady stream of excellent new models already announced and this is set to continue - the 319 is now due in January and looks very nice indeed.

Maybe with N gauge Bachmann are waiting for TINGS or Warley to make the splash for the anniversary - it would make sense to do it with punters present, otherwise a bunch of disgruntled mask wearing n gauge modellers will be going 'It's all very well bringing out a new class 47, but where is the 158 in N, where are the Peaks, when might we see a 25/3 with sound?"
