RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 17, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2021 Today was the 40th Anniversary of the opening of Salisbury ASC. The Panel took over from the old boxes from the 17th- 21st August 1981 in three phases. Back in 1981 John Say handsignalling on platform 4 during the re-signalling. 1989 BR and he was still there alongside Garry Shaftoe. 2002 21st Anniversary in Railtrack days and Garry was now the boss but John was still there! 2021 and John still going strong after 40 years and the only one there on day 1 still working. Brad Smith Operations Manager Outer Area Wessex presenting John with a little memento to celebrate 40 years in the box.
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted August 17, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2021 Good to see that all still working - passed through as a student and invited in for a quick 50p tour. Hopefully worth preserving when finally replaced given ease of access on the station.

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 18, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 18, 2021 John likes a memento so we made him something 48 years on the railway and counting and I’m sure he will complete 50 at least! 3
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted September 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 22, 2021 Little bit of Salisbury history retired today. The original ‘reminder’ tags from 1981. Taking off the various stickers we’ve overlaid unearthed a couple I’ve never seen before! 3
