RMweb Premium melmerby Posted August 30, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) Hi all A couple of clips from a 1932 colourised film of Charlie Chaplin arriving in Paddington, showing what I think is a Collett catering coach of some sort. Unfortunately incorrectly colourised green! It has the original style windows with separate ventilators. Could someone identify it please. Something around the era of H26, H29 or H30/H31/H32 triplet possibly? Edited April 21, 2022 by melmerby
RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted August 30, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) I reckon it's a first class brake saloon from Lot 1431. Only two built, numbered 9004 and 9005 to the same dimensions as the Cornish Riviera stock of 1930. That seems the right sort of modern luxury accommodation for Mr. Chaplin! I can see now on the second picture that both central doors are open.
RMweb Premium MPR Posted August 30, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 30, 2021 (edited) These coaches still exist, in a somewhat rebuilt condition. https://southdevonrailwayassociation.org/Special-Saloon-9004.html https://southdevonrailwayassociation.org/Special-Saloon-9005.html Edited August 30, 2021 by MPR
