A Dutch Dilemma!

After purchasing a job lot of NS models, me and another member of the ERTMS ( on Facebook) group decided we should start a small NS layout, the general Idea was two mainlines with a passing loop, well, this is extended now a bit, to include the end of two loops as well as a Vam Compost unloading point, for added interest we will be using the faller road system on this project (totally new to me).

After some trawling on Thingiverse (free 3D prints) I found some very nice prints of pre cast concrete OHLE as used on the line between Hilversum and Utrect , so it was decided this would be the route we would model.

I’ll post updates as we go, hope you enjoy them :)

So another Tuesday night “down the club” and we’ve made a little more progress , even managed to get most of the catenary masts in, also got the plaster bandages on , and a coat of poster paint over all that when it had dried, lastly a sprinkling of static grass to end the evening :)

I’ve also been doing a bit of work on my old Riverossi 1100, I’ve grafted some old Lima 1700 noses onto it, next job is to neaten them up and also to file more of an angle onto it, hopefully matching it to the Roco 1100.

It’s also been rewheeled using Hornby coach wheels. It was fairly straightforward, the new wheels were an interference fit on the Rivarossi axles

Well, after a break from the Dutch layout (name still not decided)  me and Paul, finally started doing a bit more today, the test bit of faller road was sanded back (i did it a bit thick) Paul then laid a stretch of new road, using plaster of paris which was coloured grey, I fitted the rest of the magnets for the level crossing, we also started getting some ballast down.

Quite a bit of progress for one night.

all the best

Dave
