Main Line Lament by Colin Walker and published originally by Oxford Publishing when it was based in Headington is an inspirational book for potential modellers of the GC London Extension. It is in black and white but worthy of acquiring.

And his other two books: Great Central Twilight and Great Central Twilight Finale.

There are two Robert Robotham books: The Last Years of the Great Central Main Line and Great Central London Extension (or something similar).

'xpress publishing' did a book on Marylebone to Rugby in the 'District Controllers View' series. (isbn 1-901056-17-1 ) I asked at the time for the Rugby to Sheffield section but nothing transpired further. This has photos , track diagrams, motive power allocations, operational anecdotes, timetabling. 72 pages softcover -retailed at £10.95 but I could not see a date of publication.

There is an extensive bibliography on the GCRS website on all matters GCR

I am sure it will be too late to satisfy the present needs, however we do have book covering the GC from Nottingham Victoria to Marylebone including much of the London extension and suburbs during the 1950s and 1960s set for the end of the 1st Quarter of 2022 in our STEAM'S LAMENT series.

The lines from Rotherwood, Sheffield Victoria, Wath through Penistone and Woodhead to Manchester London Road/Piccadilly including , Dinting, Guide Bridge and Reddish is covered in WOODHEAD LAMENT 1948 - 1981 which will be in stock during this December.
