LMS Push Pull Fittings for 00 Gauge

Hello all!

I've been quite interested in the LMS push Pull coaching stock recently and decided I wanted to use the push pull fittings on one of my locomotives and coaching rakes. 

However I have struggled to come across any kits that allows me to create these push pull fitting. Does anyone know where I could possibly buy a set from for both loco and coaches in 00 gauge??

I did two pull push sets, one with a Jinty and the other with a 2-4-2T'

 

 

You need a couple of Markits vacuum cables and also guard irons for the driving trailer bogie.  I converted these from the Hornby LMS NC coaches (NOT the old Airfix NC coaches).  You can probably get an end kit for Wizard under the Comet brand.

 

 

Pull push gear was scratch built from bits and bobs.  10664 was actually so fitted.  It is actually lined red but the muck obscures a lot of that.

 

 

Likewise 7479 was P-P fitted in life.

Hi there,

 

There was a kit available in the 80's that did the conversion of the Jinty and old Farish plus ex Airfix/GMR LMS Non-Corridoor coaches.

 

It was not an accurate conversion, just one that got you as close as possible using the coaching stock that was avaiable at the time.

 

These days - You should use the updated LMS N/C stock as made by Hoinby and the detailing packs from Wizard Models.

I’m not sure if anyone does the locomotive fittings in 4mm scale, (I can’t recall anyone).

 

However the coach is relatively easy to do using Hornbys brake coach, and an end and fittings from Comet

I would have thought that the loco fittings would be an obvious subject for 3D printing - and one with a reasonable product appeal.

PS. Did the P&P driving trailers really have crimson ends in early BR days?

I think a 3D print would be a good idea.

 

Re the end colour, none of the b/W images I found in my books indicates the ends were black, so I assumed like the BR/WR they were body colour.
P.S waiting on an answer from a bloke who will likely know.

Someone does white metal castings for the loco, I just tried and failed to find the set I bought.

I did a very simple bodge from a OO Farish suburban brake using a cast white metal push-pull end that was available (?Wyatt & Tizard?) donkeys years ago.

I know there are kits around but what I would like to see in RTR is a NER push-pull coach and a BTP.

Those models looks brilliant! The look of the L&Y Class 5 in LMS lined Black is lovely even in its mucky state. 

I'll have to check out Wizard to see and a bit of bashing from an Ivatt Body might be in order.

I have  "Northamptonshire Steam - by Micheal Welch" - on Page 67 it shows a Push Pull driving end in black at Billing (Kettering -Northampton Service -  dated 17th Aug 1962)

Alan Gibson used to do Push-Pull loco fittings but has not had time to cast any more the last time I phoned at the beginning of the year. Here's my driving trailer with ex-Comet fittings on a Hornby LMS suburban brake third

I'm in the process of making up an ex-LMS driving trailer from a Hornby non-corridor brake 3rd (R4801). I've got the Comet kit, but I'm a little confused about the parts the website describes as "bufferbeam and body/underframe fixing box". Is there anything different about the kit's bufferbeam than the one already on the coach? And does anyone know or have a photo of where the fixing box goes? What is the hole in the center for? Looking at photos of LMS driving ends, I can't really see anything that looks similar.

I would guess that you don't need the box and bufferbeam - they are used in the full kit to attach the floor to the body via the ends.
