Hi all, I just landed in Sweden coming from the UK and I'm keen to get to know the local modeling environement. If you have a few pointers on where to start, it'd be so helpful. Probably the most urgent would be where to get some spare parts locally, like DCC decoders, couplers, stuff like this.

Cheers

I’ve used Tag & Hobby in Lulea https://www.modellhobby.se/gb/ I’m aware of MJ Hobby in Stockholm but I’ve never ordered from them https://www.mjhobby.se

and Stockholm Modeljarnvagnar Klub may be of interest https://www.smj.org

It depends where you are there are a number of clubs spread about the country along with a number of retailers the Gothenburg (Hobby Centre - near the maritime museum) and Stockholm (MJ Hobbyexperten - in an industrial estate in southern Stockholm are both pretty good). The best option would be to get hold of one of the local magazines - Modelljärnvägs Magasinet - which has a club listing in every issue, Tåg (published by the Swedish Railway Club), Smalspårigt (published by the Swedish Narrow gauge society) and Allt om Hobby.

Can't speak for recent performance, but SMJ hosted me for a night a few years ago during a work-trip,
excellent modelling, really friendly team-members, highly reccomended! I also visited MJHobby, well stocked and again very friendly and helpful team-members...

Happy Modelling,
