18B
Hi, when the new Fort William station was built, would anyone happen to know it it were of a CLASP (Consortium of Local Authorities Special Programme) building prefabricated steel and concrete panel structures as used by British Rail and local councils across England during the 1960s and 1970s? duncan
Can't answer your query directly, but I think the council were not happy at the position of the new station, which might indicate that they were not involved in the design / build.

Given it was the council which put a road through the old station site and that it was as close to the town centre as possible I cannot see what the council would have seen as being better? The design of the building of the new station was covered in an earlier thread.
