Grangemouth-Sinfin aviation fuel flow

I was looking at this photo: https://www.flickr.com/photos/151904976@N08/49400924767 earlier. According to the caption, the TEA is on a Grangemouth to Sinfin aviation fuel flow (presumably returning empty, since this is a northbound train). Sinfin is the site of a big Rolls-Royce plant: am I right in thinking that the fuel was used for testing engines? Also, when did this flow start and finish? Thanks

When I used to work overlooking Derby station (about 15 years ago) it was typically a rake of 5 or 6 TEA tanks, green and yellow ones.

So perhaps not a prototype for a single wagon, but certainly a good deal shorter than a normal tank train.

It is indeed for the test beds at Sinfin, RR have a fuel farm supplied by rail.

Sidings can accommodate 8 or 9 bogie tanks + loco I believe (from memory) but the train length is determined by need that week.

Dad's not 'big' on trains but spent a lot of time around there from the RR side, so I reckon he could help with questions.
